It's not like you're missing lazer sharks or something. You are missing a modest performance increase (possibly, not always a certainty either) and premium prices. Sandman1330
I'm on the fence too. Currently using a 3900X on an X370 board. I'm tempted to step up to AM5 for all the platform improvements, but the investment will be significant. My other option is to drop in a 5800X3D and milk it another year. After reading the Tom's Hardware review, I'm leaning towards grabbing a 5800X3D. Check out the MSFS benchmarks: 5800X3D is still outperforming even the 7950X in MSFS (and actually most games), but by a huge margin in MSFS. I think MSFS is about the closest they have to DCS. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to spend the extra 500 and get a 7700X. I saw a good increase, though I didn't put in the effort to benchmark DCS. I bought it knowing that it's the last CPU that my current build can accommodate. If I were to upgrade now, I'd really consider a 7k series as you will have upgrade paths in coming years. I had started to frequent the Enigma server and often encountered enough stutters to make it unenjoyable and downright unplayable sometimes. Now with the 5800X3d it's like night and day with little to no stuttering at all. For me it was well worth the money, and for my purposes (which is almost exclusively DCS) it looks like I'll be able to avoid the big Zen 4 upgrade until the 8000 series at the earliest. 1 hour ago, Sandman1330 said: I'm on the fence too. Take a SU-25 around the Marianas, make sure that it has clouds and some weather effects, make sure you use some kind of imaging device (like FLIR or TV - I guess for the SU-25 it will be TV), because that impacts the fps heavily, et voila - there is your benchmark. Make the Track 90-120 sec. long and give it some distinct cues when to start and end the recording. You can use Afterburner/RivaTNT for recording the Min/Max/Ang/1%/.1% fps. When playing a track file, DCS recreates the simulation with this logged parameters. So in a nutshell, you need the map and the aircraft in order to use a trackfile. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?" Sandman1330
5800X3D seem to be selling out across the board… I wonder if they’re clearing stock for good, or if they’ll keep this one alive and are just selling out from people who waited for AM5 reviews.
