Frame Drop Bug

Recommended Posts

This frame drop bug is back. I give up. Here are a couple of pics of the issue. Both are taken from the DCS home screen. One is when the frames start dropping and the other is what it's supposed to look like on fpsVR. When it starts, hitting (control alt delete) and then closing task manager clears it up, I don't know why but it does. It's annoying as hell.. If anyone knows what the deal is let me know, thanks.

usually when i see something like this its' more likely to be "environmental" check the processes that are running ... for me it was the iQue and or the ASUS RGB software being a pain in the a$$.

See anything that sticks out? This was taken right when it was frame dropping.

Why is your AV engine Active? Is the only one that springs out

I guess I don't see/know what you are talking about. Where/what is that?

Ahh antimalware..,  (anti- virus). I don't use one so I must be what ever windows uses in stock form, but I will try killing it next time the frame drop bug strikes again and report back.

If it windows anti-malware, try setting an exclusion for the Dcs folder.

No dice. I did one better, not only did I exclude the entire steam folder, which is on D drive all by itself, but I flat out turned it off. Still exact same behavior as stated in the OP. I'm this " close to doing a reformat..

I suspect these two are related

Does it occur on the home screen or only while in play? Are you just experiencing low frame rate or are the frames being dropped as well?

I can push it to occur in the menu - but that takes really over-driving the gfx settings in the occulus and such. So I would answer "it's only in-game for me", as there is a limit to what you should expect to be possible in the first place.

Well after an hour of game play I would like to report this issue is fixed. My graphics card has a selector switch for 2 different Bios, flipping it to the other fixed the issue.. 🤷‍♂️

Hi all,

we need a track replay with no unofficial mods showing the frame rate hit so we can run it on our debug / dev versions to test it.

thanks

Is there a tutorial on how to do this?

Switch? Can you show me to an article or such as to what that switch is etc? So I haven't missed anything on my end.
What card?

And congrats!

Is an evga 3090 FTW ultra. There is a bios switch (dip switch) located on the side about mid way down. Says OC/Normal. One Bios has a higher available power target if used.

After some reading, I found the bios for my cards has been revised for a feature called "resizable bar" so I went ahead and updated both the OC an Normal bios. Both are now free from the frame drop bug.

Here is pic of the post on the EVGA forum and of the resizable bar tab on evga precision. I had to update my mob bios too.
