5600x Upgrade?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

After doing a bit of research and learning that DCS single core speed is what matters, I’m now thinking about what CPU I should upgrade to. I currently have a 5600x which is working well in my current build, but I’m just wondering what CPU is due to be released by AMD in the near future that is worth the upgrade. Does anyone also know if an upgrade to 5800X3d is worth it? Any thoughts welcome! Thanks.

That really depends on your GPU and resolution/VR.

Without those details no one can help you.

Unless you driving a 4k monitor, high resolution VR and have a high end GPU. I dont think there would be much point upgrading at the moment. Those 5800x3d CPU's will hold their price for a while. Until someone reports on its performance with DCS. We dont know if it would be of any benefit at all.

I would have a look for video's about using either Ryzen Master or the curve optimiser in the bios. Make sure your getting the best out of your 5600x.

If you are running 1440p your CPU is good as it is. I guess there will be no difference. You can better upgrade to 64 GB of RAM if you don´t have it already.

I currently have 32 GB ram, so IMO an upgrade to 64 GB is unnecessary.

If you are playing in multiplayer servers it will certainly help.

Simple answer that goes pretty much across the board regardless of what your running. Single player 32gb is fine, Multi player 32gb is ok but 64gb is the best way to go.

A 5600x and a 3080fe will be just fine for 1440p, should be good for 4k too.

I hope ED will make a statement about 64GB usage so these non-stopping questions about 64G get addressed properly.

Also, saying "Our Sim needs 64GB of potentially very expensive RAM to run at it's best" is not really attracting to new customers.

So, the debates will go on, LoL

There are some benchmarks on the 3D over on the VR forum.  Seems to help quite a bit in heavy SP missions.  Granted, I bought a dedicated server for less than what the 3D goes for, and that works too.  Haven't seen any numbers in MP.  If I were still playing MP I might invest in RAM first, for half the money

Why did you buy a dedicated server? Instead why not run it of the same machine?

WAY faster, much better frame times.  I've been playing Liberation lately, that'll bring any system to its knees.  Smooth as butter if I play it on my server.
