in-cockpit performance?

So, I noticed that in the cockpit of the Hind, I'm getting a weird frame limitation, usually around 60fps, I am in VR (Reverb G1 @ 2800x2800 using the OpenXR mod, 12700kf @ 5.3ghz and Powercolor 6900xt @ 2700mhz)

Most other modules, getting a pretty solid 90 fps offline. The I hop in the cockpit of the hind and it suddenly drops to 60 frames. I go external and its back to 90 frames.

I've tried the optimized English cockpits from Sundowner, but to no avail.

I've tried several other aircraft and haven't run into any issues: F-14, Mig-21, F-5, Huey, and Hip all run great.

I suspect this is likely due to it not being optimized? Unless someone has any other suggestions. I tried clearing out FXO/Metashaders already (I do this often anyways). But I also don't see anything listed in the bug report?

My opinion is that apache over detailed. I'd be happy that it have Ka-50 detailed level. On the one side, high detail level allow you to get more please from module, but the other side what pleasure you can get from low frame rate and persist freeze?

Agree, and I worry about BS3,  looks gorgeous but at what cost to fps…

The devs tell that BS3 will a new standard of modeling in DCS. For this reason, i guess this will have less fps that even apache. And i will not buy it.

+1

I think you have to draw the line somewhere and, at some point, enough is enough.  More eye-candy quickly becomes overkill, and a detriment to the whole experience (too high requirements and investment for DCS needed performance, it becomes hard to justify).

I'm also perfectly fine with BS2 levels of detail, it's the whole rest of content that needs more attention and development, especially performance optimizations.

Even with my new rig with Apache and Hind I have to set textures to medium….  Helps me in VR

I see.

My PC environment is 5 or 6 years old specs, but in Novorossiysk free flight, the High preset in the graphics options drops to 10 fps in urban areas. So I moved all the material textures with suffixes "_nm" and "_RoughMet" in the folder "DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Mi-24P\Cockpit\Textures\" to another location and it improved to 19fps. The display is reasonably broken.

Reducing the image size of material textures to about 512 may help.
MIP level should also be considered. Unconfirmed information, but it seems that the maximum texture size is 2048 for the High preset and 1024 for the Medium preset.
The DDS file was viewable in XnView.

Does anyone have the skills to create lightweight textures?

In the age of 4K monitors, 4Kx4K textures have become the standard, and with normal maps and PBR textures attached, the memory load will increase and become heavier.

If the image is displayed at MIP level 2 without zooming in, then 2Kx2K textures may be sufficient.

The BC7 DDS was convenient to edit with paint.net.

Vulkan is massively over-rated, and I think people will actually be disappointed with it.

With 2.8.1, the Hind lightweight mod I created seems to have lost its effect. is it processing efficiency, as the ED announcement said? Thankfully BS3 is also lightweight, though I've been experiencing display bugs with mirrors since 2.8.0.

I hear there is such a thing as a Windows 11 + HDR capable display these days. It seems to take a little more time until it becomes popular.
