Help Me Pick A 34 Inch Monitor

Recommended Posts

I have been using a 40 inch TCL TV for about 6 months, and want to upgrade to a dedicated monitor.  I would like to have a 34 inch curved monitor, but am struggling to decide if I want to go for 4K or 1440.  I use Track IR.  Any suggestions?  Also, is G-Sync really worth the extra cost?  Thanks for your time.

Set-Up

Ryzen 3800X

32GB Ram

RTX3080

2TB SSD

For 5K2K, I'd rather go for a 40", it's an overkill on 34", but there's no gaming monitors in 40" yet, just 60Hz office ones and they're pretty expensive.

How about a 37,5" 3840*1600 one instead of 3440*1440 34" one? It's higher and somewhat wider.

The main advantage of G-Sync is that they usually have a lower start of the supported FPS range (e.g. G-Sync would cover tearing starting from 30 FPS, while FreeSync usually starts from 48 FPS), but with a 3080, that's not really an issue.

I would go with the New Alienware 34” QLED it’s got good reviews, but that’s just me I have the older model Aw3420DW 120hz and it awesome at 1440p I mean beautiful with DCS ,but then I went to VR and well it’s just not the same. I love the monitor tho.

You said "i went to VR and well it's not the same."  Do you mean the 1440P monitor (and probably TrackerIR) are a better solution than VR?

Tracker IR and monitor “1440” mode is beautiful and DCS really shines playing in 2d mode. But VR is more like the really thing and I chosed VR because of that reason and because I can feel the G’s not so much in 2d. It’s more of a presence than anything really they are both good just take a pick or do both.

I picked up the ASUS ROG 35” G-Sync FALD a year or so ago a Black Friday deal.

Its an awesome monitor, but very expensive at RRP. It runs quite hot also.

So not that one then!

OP, it's pretty easy to look at online reviews TBH.
