SA means South Atlantic, it looks like it will be realeased in this Q2 I suppose but its a future. Paerhaps it will use Caucasus tree but I dont know. Great info about Marianas! Thanks!

Ah, count me in! Would be great to have the mod for these maps (especially the Channel's winter trees, their overall color is a bit strange)!

This solved the biggest problem I had with Syria map - The trees don't blend well with the texture below. Using only the .lua file without trees, I darkened the map a bit more (0,80 gama) and overall it looks much better, thanks!

@Taz1004 I've been seeing some odd performance behaviour recently in BS3, specifically when I uncage the shvkal I suddenly gain 2-3ms GPU frametime.  Tried all sorts of settings to no avail until I uninstalled this one as a test and suddenly the hit is far less.  Is this something you've witnessed in 2.8 or something else that's not playing nice with my system?

Not that I can think of.  These tree mods are straight texture swap.  Most of the times reduced in size.

That's what I thought, could it be something like corrupted shaders that need rebuilding?  Worth a clear out of the metashaders folder?  Truth be told I've not cleared them in ages🤫
I've seen it flying northwest out of Akrotiri, getting a fairly stable 14-15ms with the shvkal caged, uncage it and it's up to 17ms or so.  Switched the trees out and I'm getting 13ms up to 14ms or there abouts.  Obviously nothing scientific but the performance loss has been bugging me of late!

I haven't looked into it in detail but seems to work fine for few minutes I've flown in Syria.  And it still does reduce flickers.

I did a quick comparison and I noticed that the Better Trees for Syria v2 has larger zip files compared to the DCS Defaults.

Also, it looks like PineItalian1.min.zip and PineItalian.zip have been removed in the new DCS Defaults.

I did make them larger on purpose before because default billboard was too low res.

And good thing they removed PineItalian1 because I remember I wasn't able to locate it anywhere while testing.  But I kept it in case it's a tree hidden somewhere.

For me I didn't notice a difference. My setup is much more modest than yours. RTX 3060 i5-14600KF 64GB I'm using a 1440p screen with the settings maxed out and I rarely go below 60FPS. Typically between 80 and 100.
I'll test again with and without the mod
