Top Gun Maverick

Looks pretty good from the previews. I'm glad the production has focused on real filming more so than CGI.

The nice thing is, my brother took me to see the original when I was 11, and I get to take my 11 year old daughter to see the new film (pending classification of course ).

Cheers!

The part where maverick throws the freshly printed NATOPS manual in the trash was the best part. haha

I wont post spoilers, but I've already seen it.

Memorial Day weekend is definitely the best time to release it, and that momentum will carry it into and through July 4th easily.

this was prolly the first movie in almost a decade that didn't feel like it was rushed and half baked, it's a complete experience.

Wonder if ED will see an FA-18 sales boost?

They really should find a way to make cost-effective advertisements for it.

"Fly the most realistic and faithful recreation of the Hornet ever released to the public!"

Heck, it's even free to try for a couple weeks, right?

Same Applies to the F-14

Any interesting things happening behind the camera crew? Any unusual conversations? Anyone that you recognize?

Agreed, it's a nice movie and a worthy sequel to the original, even though, I have to say that once you know a bit more than Average Joe about military aviation, suspension of disbelief becomes very, very hard! 😄

I throw military knowledge and procedures out the window before I watch, and enjoy it for the cinematic experience.

Well, one might argue that the "NATOPS in the trash can" scene was probably an invitation to the audience to do what you did! 😄

You're already 35 minutes in by that point

I`ve seen it today here in Germany.

Some things were really strange. I think there were a couple of mistakes and unrealistic behavior.

btw. how often can you press the red button in the hornet until all your chaff and flares are gone ? I always thought it was just once.

But on the other hand, it was a funny movie and I do not regret having it seen.

What goes up, must come down !

saw it today as well,
Enjoyed it, but Tony Scot is greatly missed.
The vail is not what is was in 1986, at that time not any had seen carrier ops and up close. It was wild.
The first (for me) "give me a shot of a carrier landing any day. We got that today and it is going to be better.
Back to the movie, The plot is weak unless you view it through 1986 eyes.

1 to 1 comparaison is not fair but it does have some moments that work better today and wouldn't have made any sense in 1986.

JHMCS is for pussies

You can drop bombs in NAV master mode

Dive Toss is everything (as it was in STAR WARS)

The R77 is overmodelled

The SU57 FM is porked

The SA3 is eye watering

Seriously great fun to watch Yoda's force is strong in this one 🙂

Keep the thread moving
