fitness88 Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 (edited) AIR-TO-GROUND MODE "The MiG-29, Su-27 and Su-33 fighter jets can carry a limited variety of air-to-ground weapons. This includes unguided “iron” bombs and rockets (RKT). The GROUND mode [7] is used with these weapons. Air-to-ground aiming symbols are displayed in the HUD." When I press [7] to get into ATG Mode what I see are air tagets on my HDD. Each tgt has a distinct number 1,2,3, depending on how many there are. I can easily fly toward them and do an intercept. As well I see on the HDD what looks like small circles, maybe waypoints connected by a solid line which looks like a route line. What is this about as I thought this was an air to ground mode? There is mention in the manual that the SU-27 can carry small air-to-ground ordinance, I don't see the option. Is this a mistake? Thank you Edited December 21, 2008 by fitness88
Ironhand Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Are you sure those are airborne targets? That is what you see when there are designated targets in the mission. If there are, for example, 4 targets designated, there will be 4 triangles on the HDD. The currently selected target will be solid, while the remaining target locations will be empty triangles. Meanwhile, on the HUD, the currently selected target shows up as a diamond. Can it be that it doesn't matter if the designated tgts are ground or airborne, they will show on the HDD. On the HUD it does say gnd on the lower left. Go to the main menu and click; fly SU-27, you will see the airplanes over the water visually and they are on the HDD as well when you press [7]. I don't see any reference on the HUD except 'gnd' in the lower left HUD, unless I enble my radar and then I get the dot symbols. Edited December 21, 2008 by fitness88

Ironhand Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Ahhh...I see. I guess technically that would be a bug. It's the result of flying a V1.0 mission with V1.12. If you fly the mission in V1.02, you don't see the triangles when in A2G mode. In V1.12 you do. Nor do you see them, if you build the same mission with V1.12 and fly it.
