TGP Slew Jitterness

Hive

Recommended Posts

This was already discussed last year, but never clarified whether it is a bug or a feature. So here for the developers:

The TGP slew starts to jitter very noticeable with high zoom levels and slow movements. This is neither caused by the throttle/controller nor the axis settings, as the slew gets buttery smooth in active pause (at least that is my experience, please confirm). The video is from 2019, but it is still the same today.

Sorry, I am unable to reproduce this, I am using the Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle with updated slew.

Any sort of curves or dead zone on your slew axis?

I have the same setup 😃

It happens with customized curves and with standard settings. I just reseted my axis settings and tested again to be sure. I even recalibrated everything.

And still:
Active Pause on -> buttery smooth
Active Pause off -> Jitter
I can switch the jitter on/off at will if it is there. That's why I assume that throttle, curves, settings, calibaration, ... are not the cause.

Do you need further information?
I hope that other users will post their experience, too.

Thanks!

I've noticed the same with my setup but I just think it's an effect, and not so much a bug. I'd do a video but it really doesn't bother me when it happens to me (and my joystick isn't near me either). And I use a Thrustmaster Hotas One

I can switch the jitter on/off at will if it is there. That's why I assume that throttle, curves, settings, calibaration, ... are not the cause. But the jitter does not always occur. For example, I just tested it with Instant Mission -> Caucasus -> Free Flight and it was there. No jitter with Instant Mission -> Nevada -> Free Flight. Crazy...

Give me an exact track when/where it happens, make it long enough that it doesnt shut down on me right away, and I will confirm with that, maybe its specific to something I am missing.

Ok, I'll try tomorrow. And I have to correct myself: it occurs with Nevada Free Flight, too. Deleted that part from my previous entry.

Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle. fancy pancy boys 😛
I just got a good old x52 😄

I have this issue in both my A10C II and my F16. i dont have the F18 so i dont know about it.  but looks like a issue across all planes with the tpod
I have provided a "short" track where i reproduce this behavioure.

@NineLine Are you able to reproduce the problem now? Is there anything else we can provide to help? I only fly the A-10, but as Jenson and nuxil described this might be an issue with the F-16 and F-18, too. So track files for these planes might be helpful, too?

Ok, I think I get it now. It almost seems like that when you move the reticle it seemingly is losing its ground stabilization for a split second, giving that appearance of jerkiness. ALthough mine is not as bad as your original video, zoomed all the way in I can see it somewhat, I will report to the team and see what they say.

Thanks, NineLine. I hope the devs can clarify it. Strange that it seems to differ from person to person and that it is gone in Active Pause. But the latter might show them the solution.

Although I got used to the jitter over the years, using the TGP would be much more convenient with smooth movements.

Well if it's what I said, it makes sense that it doesn't happen in active pause as the aircraft isn't moving so ground stabilization doesn't matter.

Yes, you are right. I just tested it with the plane standing still on the ground: no jitter. As soon as I started rolling: jitter. Hit the brakes to stop: jitter gone again.
