How does the computer calculate the RANGE and ZONE of the JDAM?

This is a question that has been bothering me for a long time

I have never understood why when I release JDAM the moment I enter "IN RNG" or "IN ZONE" state (I know what those two states mean), they always don't have enough energy to hit the target, even when there is no wind in this way. Is this because the computer only calculated the parabola without considering air resistance or something else?

Since I found this out, I've been flying a few extra seconds into the "IN ZONE" before releasing the bomb.

This is very deadly for low-altitude pop up attack. We often only have a short opportunity to attack. Now the results that computer tells you are not reliable, then you don't know when to release the bomb.

Is this something to do with the unfinished "LOFT" mode?

In my experience it works alright for level med to high altitude delivery.

There was an odd thing with climbing deliveries, where the LAR was changing shape but not accurately representing the actual capabilities but I can't quite remember the bug.

Additionally it's possible (I wish) that the low altitude LAR inaccuracies have been modelled properly
