Rongor
As easy to see in the pic, all necessary data was entered, Lat/Lon, mag var. Turning the dial into alignment lets the "time: 00:00" blink eternally. UFC is blocked, any inputs are ignored... Yes, I have waited several minutes, this is a ground alignment. It just never starts. UFC remains unresponsive until I turn the dial back to off.

Rongor
wheel chocks are placed, so no need for them. But as you can see in the pic, they are on, brake pressure is applied Edited May 25, 2022 by Rongor
Marsvinet
I can not see anything that would be out of place. But for future reference, you do actually need to have the parking brake engaged. There is a microswitch that the parking brake triggers when engaged, that allows the INS to start aligning. 2

Krez
Did you enter the magnetic variance? It will do just that if you don't.

Thanks
zildac
I see. Would have been more clear this would be explained in the manual. ThanksYou're welcome. I think I stumbled upon this fact in a YT tutorial when I first started with the Harrier a few months ago. I'm sure it's likely referenced in Chucks guide. 12900KF | Maximus Hero Z690 | ASUS 4090 TUF OC | 64GB DDR5 5200 | DCS on 2TB NVMe | WarBRD+Warthog Stick | CM3 | TM TPR's | Varjo Aero
Eugel
It is in the manual. "GND Selects INS align mode and commands the Mission Computer to provide a ground alignment display on the DDI provided that the parking brake is on." (page 370 from the manual) Also on page 376: "Alignment Once the necessary data is in the system (LAT / LONG position and Magnetic Variation), pilot should verify that the parking brake is on and place the INS mode selector knob to the GND position (without pausing at the SEA). Ground alignment display will appear on the DDI" And yes, Chucks Guide also mentions it in bold red letters.
