Hi,

I made an attempt to improve the wake of the Santa Fé.

Santa fé.png

Wake file (to be placed in \CoreMods\tech\SouthAtlanticAssets\Shapes\Navy): santafe.lods.ship_wake

It is necessary to modify the file santafe.lua placed in \CoreMods\tech\SouthAtlanticAssets\Entries\Navy:

- the line 93  (GT.sternEffectDX = {{0.0, 0.0, 70, 5}, {4.5, 40, 20.5, 1.0}, {7.0, 40, 10.2, 1.0}, {9.0, 40, 10, 1}}) must be replaced by :

wake.png

File OVGME compatible :

Sillage Santa Fe.zip

Why it appears second on the instant action maps?

Probably it's sorted alphabetically, and the internal name of the map is "Falklands" 😇

If I already own the SA map, do I also get access to the upcoming assets packs automatically? Or will I have to download them separately?

Included in the last update I think. And updates to come.

Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

The assets that got released in the last open beta patch. Everyone gets. Wether they own the SA map or not(which I think is very cool. and let's you make missions with HMS Invincible for invasion of Iraq.  Letting the harrier be a decent stand in foe GR. 7s and 9s.)

Upcoming assets will be for those that own the SA map. I haven't seen anything about a separate asset pack.

You don't need to own the South Atlantic Map at all ... Razbam has been kind enough to have the SA Assets available for free, as part of the DCS core. In fact, you can't even uninstall the SA Assets Pack as it does not show up on the Module Manager. This is exactly the same as with the China Asset Pack of DEKA, it's a part of DCS core that you can use for free. I guess RAZBAM wanted the users to be more aware that these Assets were provided by them 🙂 and so placed an icon for it on DCS desktop:

As part of DCS core, this Asset pack will update whenever you update your DCS, but for now it is still just on the OpenBeta branch, DCS Stable does not have it yet.

Anyone make some GP fly around the map missions with any plane?

Would love to see the map from the air without going on MP...

Check these missions:

His list only has the TF-51 on it, and its a Showbird not a Warbird... not even the F-86 or Mig-15, 19....

Guess we will have to wait for the quick missions from the developers.

Cheers.

You really should learn to use a tiny bit of the mission editor, it is not hard at all as you only need to learn to: Open a mission, locate the player's aircraft, change its type from, say, TF-51 to Mosquito, and then save the mission under a different name.

That way you wouldn't have to wait for developers or other users.

Just drop me the quickstart.lua file of the plane(s), best if you have all the maps already, I will make you the mission with quickstart.lua already merged.

Or simply name the plane(s) and see if I can free-try them.

100% agree! I avoided the mission editor for a long long time! Wasn’t interested in it whatsoever. Finally watched a couple tutorials on it and it’s really not that complicated. I then kicked myself in the A** for ignoring it for years🤦‍♂️

I've been using the editor since day one(well almost) probably have 30-40 hours in just the editor.  Making anything from 1 vs 1 dogfights to missions so big and complex I can't run them in VR.

Awesome ground textures. heh?

With grass it isn't too bad - though personally I prefer colour accuracy over high definition.

The main issue for me is terrain mesh in certain areas, personally textures are just eye candy only, whereas terrain mesh can have an actual impact in mission design. I'm also of the opinion that a good terrain mesh can compensate for less high-resolution textures a lot better than vice versa.
