Maverick Force-Correlation, sometimes nose dives?

Hi

Sometimes, when locked onto a target via force-correlation mode (only available on some mav types), the maverick will nose dive long before reaching the target.

Other times the maverick correctly reaches the target.

What tips do you have for me regarding the use of force correlation mode when trying to lock onto ground targets.

My guess is that I did not bore-sight accurately enough on one of my pylons.

Hi, not too far 12 nm - 15 nm

What  I have noticed is that launching mav from the opposite pylon reaches the target. But will keep that in mind. and keep on trying.

Have had success at 21 nm max.

The max sometimes nose dives at full speed and does not 'feel' like battery life issue but rather they way I target using the force correlation function

How high are you?

The speed of the Maverick  plays a role to.

At 1000-8000ft the rocket may well not reach 12nm.

But if they fly high 30.000-40 000ft and 1-1.3M, the rocket can easily reach+21nm.

Otherwise upload a track of the situation

To mark a smaller object that the mav snaps to before boresighting. I think you are correct regarding the distance, I was using the larger warhead variant and those cannot reach 21nm. However with the smaller h version I can reach 21nm. Also when boresighting I was using a building as a reference. Seems to work better snapping to a smaller target when boresighting.

You're definitely shooting at the very edge of the maximum possible range. The Maverick is not designed to be used at those ranges, and I am highly skeptical that IRL they would be even remotely accurate in Force Correlate mode at that range.

DCS doesn't seem to really simulate boresighting with any complexity. So long as you lock anything with the Maverick an hit the Boresight button it'll work, it doesn't even need to be the same object as any other sensor is locked on to.

Shucks, for almost one year I have been spending hours finding something to lock the TGP on, then looking for the same darn thing via the maverick seeker (WPN) page, locking onto the same thing again before trying to boresight.

Tested it yesterday by locking onto different objects and bore sighting, and it works, as long as it actually snaps / locks onto something bore sighting works...

You don't even need to lock the TGP onto anything. The Maverick IRL will boresight to a SPI generated by any other sensor, and since there's always a SPI somewhere in the Viper, in DCS all you need to do to boresight is point the Maverick, lock something, and hit boresight.

Wow, that’s a real…implementation…

Note that this is the way it should work. Hopefully it eventually will, it's good to have something to boresight the missile on while enroute. Yeah, with a realistic FLIR it's not going to be easy, particularly in DCS, where you don't get quite as many distinctive IR features as IRL.
