CaptMac Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 On my second deployment mission I could only auto nav back to waypoint 4. I tried to put nav point 4, 5, 6, but none of them were recognized. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? CaptMac
d0ppler Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 if the flight plan doesn't contain more than 3 turning points you obviously can't go to point 4, 5 or 6, but that's not probably the case? Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? CaptMac Let's say you have set 6 waypoints, 1 and 6 refer to the same take-off and landing airfield, 2-5 are for enroute navigation. In the ME your take-off and landing points have the number 1 and 6. However, in the PVI they will be Airfield 1, while waypoints no. 2-5 from the ME are nav points 1-4 in the PVI. The PVI only counts enroute waypoints as nav points, take-off and landing points are stored as airfields. Frederf Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Yeah I was going to say that with the PVI-800 the route generally looks like this for a 6-fix plan. Airfield 1 Waypoint 1 Waypoint 2 Waypoint 3 Waypoint 4 Airfield 2 It is poor word choice to say that "The PVI has 6 waypoints maximum." It should say that it can store 6 positions maximum which can be of the various types (waypoints, airfield, etc).
EvilBivol-1 Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 (edited) It is poor word choice to say that "The PVI has 6 waypoints maximum." It should say that it can store 6 positions maximum which can be of the various types (waypoints, airfield, etc). Incorrect. The INS can store up to 6 *waypoints* (Nav Points), in addition to 2 Airfields, 4 Fix Points, and 10 Target Points. As explained by Acedy, the reason you can only cycle through 4 waypoints in Deployment mission #2, is because the route only has 4 waypoints. The other two points you see on the map are the take-off/landing points, i.e. Airfield #1 on the PVI-800. Edited December 26, 2008 by EvilBivol-1 - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Frederf Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Thanks. I find the best way to get information is to state a fact which may be incorrect and secure that if there is opportunity for someone to correct me, there are very likely to do so compared with answering a simple question. 1
