Kola is quite the surprise. I am definitely getting it considering it was one of my top candidates for a DCS map in the wish thread. I'm glad someone with the ability to make a map agreed with me. I wonder if it will push my DCS install to over 1TB.

Looking at the preview image of the map area it's actually even larger than I expected it to be. This could definitely be my main map from now on.

(My guess, airbases highlighted)

Totally stoked!

With the probable addition of Finland and Sweden into NATO, Kola makes so much sense. You know what also makes sense? Hainan Island and the Paracels, and the Caribbean (Cuba and surrounding coasts and islands - See below)

Well, there's Vietnam and Korea, but other than that, I don't see too many other theaters that I find a better fit.

Pretty stoked about this theater.  Great for the Viggen, naval ops, mountain flying, and (sadly) as relevant today as it was in the cold war.  Would love to see a bit more ocean included in the north if possible to ensure you have enough room to maneuver those carriers, but otherwise I'm totally onboard with this choice.

Wow, Kola map from ORBX is really welcomed surprise for me. I know ORBX well from my civil sims….have a lot of stuff for P3D and X- Plane.

Kola is a very interesting location recarding the actual geopolitical situation and Finland and Sweden joining Nato, I think.

It also looks very interesting terrain with land, sea and mountain regions. I like it👍

The AH-64D CPG animation looks very nice and looking forward seeing more of it!

There's war exercises in the part of Norway which is on the map since far into the cold war and to this day. Decades of war games that van be replayed as live wars in DCS. British, American,  German, French etc. Even Sweden joined in a few times. This year's exercise included a Marine Amphibious assault ship, so you can make missions and campaigns with the Tarawa harrier.

conventional us carriers have been there too. Lots of possibilities

Norway used F86, F5 and F16 during the cold war, and F16 until last year. Bodø air base will be in the map. Home of F16 squadron.

I am really happy with Orbx announcement. \

I hope they are well aware that DCS requires a lot of detail in low level area for all ground pounders / combined arms / Viggen drivers and helo riders.

I didn’t realize A2A was talked to. That’s a good sign.

I got the Viggen covered! Will be a nice little playground with a lot of options to make a decent show out of it.
