Larger HUD font size - Mod

MYSE1234

Recommended Posts

This is a mod that increase the size of the fonts used on the HUD.
The size changes are:

  • Compass - x1.3
  • Pitch ladder - x1.5
  • Altitude - x1.75

The mod does pass IC, I've tested it online on Enigma's cold war server.
From what I've seen, this only affects the numbers (as it should), but if you notice anything else please leave feedback.

Download hereJust larger font size.

Download here - Larger font size, and thinner lines.

Do we need to install this mod after each update from Aerges?

Yes, like every User Mod that goes into the DCS main program folder. I use a Mod Manager, that way I can disable all User Mods with a single command prior to updating DCS, and then easily re-enable them with another single command:

I wonder if in the real aircraft the HUD reading is as bad as the Mirage F1 in DCS?

I think the HUD is not far from reality for Mirage F1-C back in the 70'.

Mirage F1-CR which get out in 1982 received Thomson VE 120 HUD, something similar we can see in the Mirage 2000C.

We can expect the Mirage F1-EE from Aerges to reveive this HUD.

What does the EE have different from CE except the HUD ?

I understand that its Armament Panel is different and mounted on the front panel rather than the right console. The RWR is different too.  For navigation it has an Inertial unit.

I wished we had the more modern option asap 🙂

On my case, I enjoy learning every aircraft peculiarities as they were during their service .. to me, learning navigation by Dead reckoning, VOR or TACAN is equally as interesting as learning an INS, and probably more challenging.

F1-EE improvement over F1-CE should be:

- improved HUD: Thomson-CSF VE120

- Improved RWR: AN/ALR-300

- Integrated flare an chaff dispenser : AN/ALE-40

- INS system

- Refuelling probe

- IFF interrogator

- Improved Radar: Cyrano-IVM with ECM Jamming capability and improved air-ground capability (radar telemetry, radar cartography), Super 530F air-air missile guidance

- Improved air-ground capabilities: not clear as it seems that F1-EE never received CCRP/CCIP in the contrary to F1-CR

Is the EE the next variant being developped ? and what is the difference between the EE and M ?

I think the F1-EE is the next one to come but there is also a F1-BE (2 seats) to come. The F1M will come at the end.

F1M improvement F1-EE are supposed to be:

- modernised cockpit (late 90') with LCD display, NVG improved support for night operation

- Improved RWR: AN/ALR-300V2R

- improved Radar: Cyrano-IVMR with improved air-ground target designation (something similar you can see on F16/F18 with ground target designated on the HUD), sea mode with the capability to fire AM-39 Exocet

- Improved air-ground capabilities: CCIP/CCRP/LOFT (LOFT = similar to F18 for ballistic HARM missile delivery)

- Improved INS gyro-laser system: SAGEM ULISS 47

- GPS navigation system

- Improved IFF: cryptographic mode (not simulated in DCS)

- Improved Radio communications: cryptographic mode (not simulated in DCS)
