Newbie w/PC & VR Spec Questions

Morning -

I'm going to be that guy and ask those questions (thanks in advance!):

I'm brand new to this space and passionate about flying.  I've been looking forward to entering this space and have been slowly planning and gathering hardware to jump in.  I will be a casual gamer but want to make my time and $$ worth it.  I'm going to use my Oculus Quest 2 VR Headset and I'm considering the following PC.  Any tips, tricks, suggestions, etc are welcomed as I take the next and big $$ step:

PC I'm considering: Apex: The Sidewinder Customized:

Growling Sidewinder
Sidewinder

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500
CPU Cooler: Stock AMD CPU Cooler
Motherboard: AsRock B450M-HDV
RAM: 16GB DDR4-3600 (Non-RGB) (Highly Recommended)
GPU: NVidia GeForce RTX™ 3060
SSD: 500GB SATA SSD (Up to 500 MB/S)
Power Supply: 450W/500W 80+ Power Supply (EVGA, Corsair, Apex)
Operating System: Windows 11 Home

I also have the Thrustmaster T16000M FCS Flight Pack (Windows)

two suggestions. get at least 32 RAM (64 better) and larger PSU. later on when you decide on another GFX card it will help. 3060 is good but could be better.

I appreciate the advice and the recommended specs/machine.  Thank you!

no problem. always glad to help. come back if you have questions. DCS is great. it takes time to learn and good gear to run it.

Get 2GB as minimum for storage. You can split it up and have 512 GB as your boot drive with Windows and AT LEAST 1TB for DCS/games. But seriously forget about spinning drives unless for a storage server/NAS with redundancy.
No less than 32GB of RAM.
And if possible get Windows Pro, not Home.

Cheers!

Thank you for the tips!  I'll be a casual gamer at best, do you still think this (will bump it to 32gb) will be ok? Or am I completely barking up the wrong tree?

Others can answer more clearly about the CPU and GPU. I've kinda lost track of that until I'll get a new computer myself.

As for what I answered on, it comes from experience, and DCS had really started to like 32 Gigs of RAM. When I build mine, I'll at least go for 64GB. 😊
