How Do You ACTUALLY Use the Jammer in the M2000C Now?

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to actually effectively use the jammer now? It's doing all sorts of things by the looks of it without pilot interference when left on. Can't seem to find all that much useful info about it since whatever update that gave it a major overhaul.

Is it best left off until you're locked or being fired upon?

Many thanks in advance 🙂

Turn it on to the [] mode. It's more or less automatic and will jam specific emitters when appropriate (the square outline on the RWR screen). Apparently in real life its function is more nuanced and sophisticated but DCS' modeling of jamming does not really allow for this.

You can force PCM (priority: counter measures) with the HOTAS bind -- and indeed sometimes it will prompt you to do so -- but because of the limited DCS jamming environment it won't really do much more for you than the [] mode. It will blast everything, but will also disable your ownship radar, and you may well attract missiles that use home-on-jam and get yourself killed. I use PCM every once in a while when bugging out and running cold to pre-emptively spoil enemy radar ranging if there are bandits in the area I'm running from.

Probably just easiest to leave it at [] and forget about it.

Hi,

What @kablamomansaid is correct.

In priority radar ([]), the jammer will turn itself on and off depending on the situation, trying to be the most efficient possible.

Priority counter-measure (PCM) is doing the same but turning off the radar when emitting. In DCS, there is a difference between PCM and [] but it's limited by DCS jamming mechanics.

There is a 3rd mode, which is PCM override. This is toggled by a HOTAS command and forces the jammer to continuously jam in PCM.t
