oxking Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Hello, i would like to tell you an big wish for Lockon. Please tell the Publisher of the game that many people worldwide wish to have an real-printet and localised (not only in english language, but in the language of the certain coutry where the games are selled [ie. german for Germany etc.]) Manual, with entire informations of the Game and the technics of the simulated ans computerbased aircraft, groundunits and weappon systems, and also an taktical chapter. Just like the great Manual for Flanker 2.0! Ubisoft in Germany will only lay the "Basic-Manual" by the Game, and an english pdf "expert"-Manual. But the gamer and buyer of this great Simulation would like to becom an real printed entire and complex Manual on their own language, for paying about 49 Euro for an game. A good idea were, to lay by, an register card, witch is send back to the local publisher, an becom an entire big fat Manual. eventual for paying 10-15 Euro extra (depending on the quality on the manual). chp Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Guten tag, Unfortunately this is really wrong place to ask about it. Developers have nothing to do with manual translations and printing. So, you'd better address it to publisher -> Ubisoft.
ED Team Chizh Posted August 12, 2003 ED Team Posted August 12, 2003 Thanks for good words. UBIsoft the unique publisher of game in Europe. We cannot influence their politics on sale and distribution of the software. Sorry. Andrei Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 Just to say, I totally agree with you. While not living in Russia, we are forced to pay full price for the products. However, I'd really pay 10-15 Euro more for the manual, because the PDF or else versions are sometimes abit hard to read, and often provide some problems, while in need to see some information in-flight. And I can't really get why the UbiSoft doesn't want to incluse full-sized manual. The only guess I have is that the usual DVD box is too small for it, while packing product in the full-sized box would be problematical somehow... oxking Posted August 12, 2003 Author Posted August 12, 2003 Because of that DVD-box-space-problem i suggestet those mail-back method, Where you mail in an register-cart and get the Manual send back. And i would only pease you (the developers) to speak about it with ubisoft. Just one time, that the publischer recognize the wishes of the comunity. :) I also wrote this wishes in other european ubi forums ofcourse, but it couldnt be wrong those ubi-guys hear the whishes and protests from different directions. ;) Its only because iam not sure who is makes the decision about it, and i wonder if those guys realy reding in the forums, or take realy notice about it....... Greetings, OxKing from Germany
Dmut Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 hello oxking. unfortunately, we have no chance to convenience Ubisoft to change something related to publishing, and we can only hope that ED will write an "expert" pdf manual in different languages, not only english. At least if we will have a pdf version of expert manual then we can somehow print it. "There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." chp Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 DVD-box is here to reduce price - less printing and less volume for shipping. Some products has got cheaper because of that, others not. But publishers (hence developers too) are rumoured to get more money back anyway - because they save on publihing, shipping and selling processes quite a lot. If you really would pay 10euros more for manual - then you'd better find a small publishing house. Here you can get printed and spiral-bounded manual for 10euros for sure. Ubi themselves still consider something like that (sending printed manual for an additional price). Plus, a "real" pilots do necessary briefings and don't use manuals in flight ;) Again, it's more than likely that any translations/localization are made by Ubisoft, so - it's pointless to ask developers.
