You don't need Virtual Desktop.

First of all, is your DCS standalone or Steam version?

And your Quest 2 is definitely connected to the PC via either AirLink or the cable? Make sure it's connected first before starting DCS. And are you starting DCS with VR mode enabled in the settings?

No, as long as you check the Enable VR option on VR tab the game should load in VR mode if Quest 2 are conected via Link or AirLink.

If not, add --force_enable_VR to DCS shorcut

Did you start your quest up in another mode, before you startup the quest. you can hold power button and voume - button, you'll get a menu. dit you changed something in there?

If yes, then here is maybe a solution:

I have external wireless audio and apparently the problem is with the audio. It tells me that the quest has no audio.

What does tell the quest doesnt have audio?
The oculus software?

If its the oculus software, then turn off the device, open the oculus software. you can change by device the audio source.
Below screenshot is in dutch, but you might get the idea where i change my source.

You also can try to uninstall the oculus software, and reinstall it.

Also have you checked the "permit unknown software" in the oculus settings app (its called something like that).

Also  you havent detailed the steps you see when you start. Should activate the link from the oculus menu, then go into the white matrix room, then launch DCS from the desktop.

I have disabled headset sound on mine and it works fine.

In addition to what was said about about checking the unknown sources under the settings menu on the desktop app, here is what I have to do every time.
It only takes about 5 seconds.

When first turning on your quest you should see the following.

1) "Allow connected device to access files" ..... Click Allow

2) "Confirm Guardian".....Click Confirm

3) Click on the Quick Settings box.... Its the lower left hand corner with the time, battery life, and Wi-Fi signal

4) Turn off air link here,  if your using the cable

5) Click on the Quest Link - Rift Box

6) Click Launch

Your desktop should change and you can click on DCS if you see it on the left. Just be sure "use VRs checked" in DCS. I always just launch from Skatezillas utility so I can pick VR or Flat screen.

I hope that helps.

Nothing has worked so far. The only things I can use are the ones that are in the oculus store. Now I can't even use dcs, because it has to go through vr and I cannot deactivate it.

Only a blank black screen.

Since an update or 2 ago (and also now stable OB since they are on the same version atm) i also get a black screen running VR.
Before: DCS would start in VR and would show the VR mirror on screen after the DCS splash screen. Then i would put my headset on (Rift-S).
Now:  Since 2.7.17.29140 the DCS splash screen disappears but no VR mirror turns up on the monitor, instead i'm presented with a black screen. The mirror now only shows the moment i put my headset on.

Also:

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind combat pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
