Q: Is it possible to spawn AI a/c in front of own a/c via radio commands at any given time?

Or does someone has a similar alternative for “offensive BFM”?

System:

Win11 Pro, X870Pro RS Wifi 7 AM5, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, Corsair MP400 SSD (1TB for WIN), Corsair MP700 PRO (2TB for DCS), VR PIMAX Crystal.

Yes, and you would need some Lua coding to do that. Depending on what you want to do, this can range from medium difficulty to very involved (especially if you want to control the spawn's weapons), so you'd have to be a bit more specific what you are looking for.

Okay sounds great.

I would love to make an (offensive) BFM training mission. T/O form airfield X (or Carrier). —> fly to a designated BFM training area, and have the possibility to spawn different a/c via F10 radio commands:

  1.  high aspect a/c (head on)
  2. a/c for offensive BFM:
  • Gun Sight tracking setup
  • Tailchase setup
  • Butterfly setup
  • Perch setup

Basically let the a/c spawn in an Arrow formation with him slightly in front of me. (2)

F10 radio commands like:

  • BFM training:
    • High aspect set
    • Gun Sight Tracking set
    • Tailchase set
    • Butterfly set
  • Airboss
  • Range
    • …..
  • etc

It took me longer than I thought, but here's a proof of concept:

I've put four different choices in the menu: spawn on six, spawn head-on, spawn on your left crossing you at right angles, and spawn close to you (this is to practice formation flying).

No matter where you turn, or go, the other planes always spawn relative to your heading and position (but not altitude, so you can practice with different altitude differentials, all planes spawn at 2000m BARO (6562 ft).

I've made all planes blue, and harmless Hogs, while your own plane in Group "Trainee" is a SU-25T. You can change all plane groups to your heart's content except the "Trainee" group's client plane, which must be named 'anchor', but anything else is fair game (note that the spawn zones measure distance and heading to unit "anchor" for their own spawning, so keep that in mind when moving the client plane about).

I've no interest in this topic personally but thought it worthy to mention how amazingly helpful and kind this community are at times!

cfrag - It's honerable that you spent time and effort to help a fellow simmer.

Gary

Indeed Gary, and thank you very much for your help cfrag. Already took a first glance and this is what I wanted. Now I'm going to try to replicate it in my own mission.
