A little confused on how to use the target range gate line in the radar scope.

Trackir4 using the latest Trackir 5 software, Win10 Pro [Creator Update] updated from Win7Pro Pro 64Bit, Intel® Core™ i5-2500 3.30 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache LGA115 , GigaByte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 16GB Ram, GTX MSI Gaming 1060 [6 GB] Video Card, Main Monitor 1 on left 1920x1080 Touchscreen Monitor 2 on right 1920x1080 .

It begins at max range, where the range gate first appears at 6 O'clock. As the range gets closer, the range gate gets longer, from 6 o'clock to straight up 12.  That's what confused me for a bit....the range gate gets longer while the range gets shorter.  Just pay attention to the edge of the gate, not the length of it.

Thanks for the response but I am referring to the target range gate inside the radar scope.

In Chuck's guide, page 145, the Target Range Gate appears in the lower right picture.  How does it work?

  • Solution

That is one of two images to keep track of the target. The cross in the middle tracks the target up/down and left/right, while the horizontal bar (range gate) slides up and down to show range. In the pic you referenced, the radar is set to 10 miles; the target range gate is shown just between the 4 mile and 2 mile range lines, and is about 3 1/2 miles away.
