RichardG Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Having trouble slaving schval to target point that is sent over datalink. Example: If you create target point on the fly, then select TP on PVI and uncage schval, schval auto-slews to TP, putting it in view. Now, if I recieve a datlink TP (or send one), the person who recieves the TP should be able to select it, then uncage schval and see the TP in view. Is this correct? Its not working that way, and I'm not sure if its because of my error, or the function just does not work in the cockpit.
graywo1fg Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 i think for it to work a target point has to be marked in the mission editor..... not sure though, i tried what you did as well. geogob Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 You need to be in ingress mode for TP received over the data link. Reset the shkval, select the TP using the datalink panel, engage ingress mode. That should work. I understand that the behavior is different between target points pre programmed in the PVI-800 and those recieved on the fly over the data link.
RichardG Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Ingress mode is the blue home plate/ ingress button on data link panel correct?
geogob Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/img/technology/HelModel_15_Big.jpg The second yellow button is Ingress. In order, from the left, Reset, Ingress and Send/Mem. I suggest you read the manual on those systems and check the videos
fjacobsen Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 The Shkval will not automaticly point to the target point. The "Ingress" button on the datalink panel makes it possible to let the autopilot point the the nose of the Helicopter towards the TP and approach it. You can use the ABRIS to check where the Shkval is looking. Put the cursor at the end of the line on the Datalinked target shown on the ABRIS. You might still need to seek out the target on the Shkval Yourself within that area. Wothan | i7-10700K 3.8-5.1Ghz | 64GB RAM | RTX 4070 12GB | 1x1TB M.2. NVMe SSD | 1x2TB M.2. geogob Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 The Shkval will not automaticly point to the target point. That is not correct. Select the ingress point after and press the uncage shkval button. Make sure the HMS is off and laser range finder set to stdby.
RichardG Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 It does indeed work. However, the part about having laser to standy, and HMS off is not in the manual. (tell me where if it is) Turns out that was what I was doing wrong.
Frederf Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Well you need the laser ready to get distance measurements with. Also you need the HMS off because if you uncage with the HMS active the Shkval will target your HMS position and not your PVI/DL target. Actually thinking about it, you shouldn't need the laser at all to point at the Shkval at a received DL target. You will need the laser to send a DL target though since you need the laser to get a position that is sendable. The manual is generally systems description without much procedure information. How to do complex tasks is not really covered (apart from some examples like start up).
