Have been trying to fight on Growling Sidewinder with the JF-17, and am getting lots of crashes - it ALWAYS happens when there is an incoming missile.

 

EVERY. TIME. That can't be a coincidence.

 

Understand: not all missiles shot at me are making the game crash, but every time I've crashed, is when a missile is chasing me - or possibly hitting me.

 

Recent log attached. I've deleted all mods, ran Steam verify on DCS, and the issue is still happening. This is on Open Beta 2.8. I had a few similar DCS crashes on OB 2.7, but it's happening much more now.

 

EDIT/Update: Even watching the track file replay, my game crashes at the same point, and it's when I'm being hit by a missile. I took a screenshot from the replay in 3rd person, and as soon as the missile hits me, the game crashes. This was my second spawn, the first missile that killed me did not make the game crash, but this one did. It could have been a different missile/jet that shot me of course.

@Hiten Bongz @FlankerFan35 before crash, did you launch sd10 and sd10 still under guidance by radar? Could you try not launching sd10 but getting hit by missile and see crash or not?

I watched the track file replay again (and game crashed again 😅). I had probably one - maybe two - SD-10 in the air. But they were no longer guided by Jeff radar, because I broke lock to go defensive.

 

I don't have TacView so I can't be sure how many SD-10 were still flying when I got hit, but they were definitely using their own tracking when I died.

It never used to happen on the GS server though...and it doesn't seem like a script heavy server?

 

I like to fly there when I'm limited on time and just get some Jeff action in so it'd be nice if we could figure this out either way lol

That's why I'm wondering if it's a certain type of missile fired from a certain type of jet that causes the crash when it hits the JF-17. Because not every missile that hits me makes me crash, but it's happening enough that it's super frustrating.

 

I can't understand exactly what's going on in this log but I think it's pointing to something with either decoys (chaff/flare?), or the missile, or...something. Lots of WeaponBlocks/WeaponsBase/Weapons lines...also if it helps @uboats I'm pretty sure I was dumping chaff and flares while evading. Maybe that is related.

I did report it, but it's going nowhere...and I'm still crashing when I get hit by a missile after the last patch, I was hoping there would be a fix, but I guess not.

 

 

Aaaaand here's the latest log from tonight where I crashed instantly when hit by a missile. I am for sure spamming chaff/flares on this one and it was an AIM-120 on the RWR - if any of that makes a difference.

If you have again encountered this issue, could you please upload latest trk file of those crash?

ED needs trk to debug. Also if you can quickly reproduce it after joining the server, that would be greate.

Actually I'm surprised it took someone this long to make this comment, I knew it was coming eventually 😛

 

Unfortunately the Jeff only has a tiny bit of countermeasures compared to other modern fighters and the amount of spamraams online can get insane...Jeff engine is smol, going cold is never a guarantee to escape, got to be real careful trying to be a hero out there 😂

 

Deka plz buff countermeasures. And the engine. And the jammer. And...and...🤣

In this one I was again trying to evade an AIM-120, it was fired by an F-16, and I was dumping chaff with nose towards the ground. The F-16 died by my own missile (SD-10) before his hit me.

In this one I was again trying to evade an AIM-120, it was fired by an F-16, and I was dumping chaff with nose towards the ground. The F-16 died by my own missile (SD-10) before his hit me.
