Game crashing when enemy missile hits me

I have been having issues with my game crashing when I get struck by an enemy missile. It even crashes at the exact same spot when I watch the track file replay (see screenshot, where I watched missile hit me and game instantly crashed). This has been happening with the JF-17 in multiplayer.

Not every missile that hits me makes the game crash. In this flyout, I have already died once to a missile and respawned. It was the second death from a missile where I crashed.

I had this crash bug here and there in 2.7, but it seems to be happening A LOT more in 2.8...and it makes playing online incredibly frustrating. I don't know if this is a JF-17 bug, a core DCS bug, or even a bug due to a different module/weapon...but it never used to happen and it's gotten progressively worse, and now it happens frequently.

Since it's multiplayer I can't exactly force it to be super short, but it's only like 20 or 30 minutes tops. Causes DCS to crash for me at the end when I watch it too. It's the second shoot down where the game crashes. There's a bit of a delay at the beginning before I take off (badly 🤣) because I'm changing a few controls around.

 

Edit: I see you asked for SP, if you could point me to a custom mission I could use to try to quickly reproduce it, I could try. But I don't even know which aircraft or missile etc (if it even matters) is causing me to crash out in the first place...I don't have TacView to watch the track file replay

Still crashing. Here's the latest log with a crash when I got hit by a missile. I was trying to evade an AIM-120 and dumping chaff & flares, if that makes any difference at all.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the JF-17 module and the crashes still occur.

 

Here's the latest crash from tonight, looks like the same suspicious lines in the log file as always...track file attached as well. It is fairly short.

In this one I was again trying to evade an AIM-120, it was fired by an F-16, and I was dumping chaff with nose towards the ground. The F-16 died by my own missile (SD-10) before his hit me.

@Hiten Bongz Our issue here is that we're missing a track, track which we cannot have since the sim cannot record a track when a DCS crash happens.

But there might be a solution:

  1. Try to reproduce the conditions of the crash in a small, short mission. Do exactly the same things that you do to get the crash.
  2. Once the enemy aircraft shoots a missile at you, start avoiding and releasing chaffs like you always do.
  3. Then exit the mission seconds before the enemy missile hits you, and click Save Track.
  4. Replay track, wait for the missile to be close (=end of the track is nearing), press Escape, and click "Take control". Wait for the missile to hit you. If DCS crashes, that means you have produced a usable track. Attach it here and we'll try to reproduce the CTD.

I'm not understanding. I have already uploaded a short track file to my google drive and provided the link. How are you "missing a track?" I can watch this track file in replay on my PC, are you not able to?

 

Maybe there is a language barrier here but I don't understand what the issue is with the track I provided.

Does your testing include getting hit by missiles (especially AIM-120) on a populated multiplayer server? If you are trying this offline, in custom mission etc., then all bets are off because testing environment isn't the same. If that is the case then I urge you to try it an online server...Growling Sidewinder is where I usually play.

I made a small custom mission where I'm going head-on versus an AI F-16 with AIM-120 and I let him shoot at me. I try to evade like usual, and I cannot make it crash with this mission.

 

But on GS server I get the crash quite often at least 25% of the time I get hit, maybe as much as 50%.

 

@uboats @Flappie what happens when you watch my track file? Because even the track replay crashes DCS at the end when I get hit by the AIM-120 for me. Same for you?

 

Did either of you test on the GS server? There's been others that have reported this bug in JF-17 forum, and I know they fly on GS too. Possible server problem?

My mistake, I'll try it right away.

EDIT: Unfortunately, your track is not replaying well. The take off ends in the grass...

I'll edit the mission so you start in the air, facing the enemy.

Please run it from the mission editor, and jump into the red JF-17 slot (there's only one). You'll be facing an AI F-16. See if you can reproduce the crash.

It's 30mb, much shorter than the first one I linked in this thread.

 

If so that is very strange, I can replay it just fine and it plays back as normal...lol

Are you able to test using the current OB build? I gave that 30mb track file (from Nov. 9 I posted here) to a server admin from Growling Sidewinder, and he can view it okay. Also crashes his DCS when the missile hits...

The problem here is that the track won't replay correctly in ED internal bild, which means devs won't be able to reproducethe crash. But I'm pretty sure it will work if your aircraft starts in the air. I'll see what I can do with the movie clip showing the crash, but in the meantime, if you could reproduce the crash using my mission aboe, that would probably speed things up.

I am also having crashes as are my teammates. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce as it is intermittent. Game seems to crash when we switch from cockpit to map or external view to either map or cockpit. We all have different builds though mine is probably the newest. I fly the Jeff and F16 and it happens in both aircraft. I just saw this post and thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth. If I can reproduce, I'll post here. However, we don't get an error message it just freezes. Only started since last patch and since it's happening to 4 ppl i fly with it can't just be a co-incidence.
