-Friend Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Hi, I am a DCS fan (I watch DCS gameplay on YouTube) and someday when I have enough money to buy a gaming PC I hope to play DCS myself. I messaged one of the players from the Grim Reapers group with a proposal for a wargames which they could run and then post to their youtube channel. Their reaction was encouraging, and they will hopefully run the wargames I proposed to them when they have time. I am in two minds as to whether I should message them again and make a further stipulation for the wargames: ideally it should be run with IADS (Integrated Air Defence Systems) placed along either side of the frontline, to force all non-stealthy fighter jets on both opposing sides to fly low below the coverage of the ground-based radar. This would probably reduce the maximum range of engagement for non-stealthy fighters on both sides as in real life, drastically changing the game dynamic. However, the wargames I am proposing is so large that we would be unlikely to find enough human operators for all the aircraft. Most of them would probably be flown by AI. My question to the forum is: would AI-controlled planes fly beneath the radar of the IADS, and force themselves to remain flying at low altitude even when engaged in air-to-air combat? (If not, it would probably be better to run the wargames without any IADS). Thanks
Kang Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 Well... there is not really a proper IADS to start with. It is possible to get strike flights to fly in 'the shadows' but they mostly need to be set up manually for it, their AI reaction to threat, when left alone, is often not the best.
Mars Exulte Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 Yeah, not really possible with the current AI or SAM systems, tbh. Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
