X56 - Keys/switches/buttons on stick suddenly has no response (OB 2.8)

Recommended Posts

It did not happen to me before the OB 2.7.x. Now, after random interval in flight, all the buttons on the stick stop working, but all the axis still work. I have the stick, throttle and pedals, all connected to a USB hub. To return to normal, I have to unplug the hub and reconnect it again. But still, it may still working at times, randomly.

Still persists in today's OB, is there any other info I can provide?

Anker 4-Port Ultra Slim USB 3.0 Data Hub, non powered. Only the stick, throttle and the rudder are connected to this hub. I will try and stick it to another port first then report back.  Thank you.

Update: I move all the HOTAS controllers to another hub at another USB port, same problem.

Strange, in non-VR environment, it seems okay. Do you need any log et al?

Okay, I dunno cause it is the buttons on the stick does not work instead of the throttle. But I should get the HOTAS set a powered HUB and try it first. Thanks.

Have a 60W powered USB hub, and plug the stick, throttle and rudder into it. Problem still persists. However, I can verify that only the stick is having such a problem, the buttons on the throttle still work. Since I can now turn off just the stick on the USB hub, I notice when I do so, the "TrackIR" is also "unplugged". But I do not have a TrackIR device connected during the flight. How can I remove this "device" entirely?

May be I should try a clean install again.

Update: uninstall the whole DCS OB, delete the folder, delete the folder in Saved Games, reinstall everything overnight, problem still persists with the stick, not the throttle...

Update 2: The problem occurs much less frequent, even with all the mods and modules reinstalled. Could be a game issue but I cannot be sure -- unless I go back to 2.7 and investigate.

Update: Now it is getting really weird!

Last night, suddenly, the buttons on the stick work but all buttons and switches on the throttle do not! And to make it even weirder -- only in cockpit this happens and it keeps on happening. Disconnecting the throttle does not help. But once outside the cockpit, e.g. in the control assignment page, all buttons on the throttle suddenly work as normal.

If log or video is needed, please let me know.

Desperate, I don't want to switch to TM so soon...

Update 2:

Swap the X56 Throttle with the throttle of TM16000M, clean and repair the whole DCS, the problem above still persists, no change.

Update 3:

Swap to another USB port, it makes no difference.

In short, I am currently grounded. 😞
