I cannot reproduce the diving issue. Can you please send me a track showing the issue, either in a private message or in a new thread?

The Type 093 used to have a fake diving animation that would play whenever its alarm state got set to red (either automatically when it detects a threat or via the advanced waypoint actions), the submarine will still submerge and surface in accordance with depth setting for its waypoints.

Personally, the fake diving animation is redundant given that it can be controlled with aforementioned depth setting. In addition, apart from transiting into and out of port, emergencies and photo-ops there's very little reason for an SSN such as the Shang to be on the surface at all, especially in combat.

@Admiral189 If you want the submarine to dive, from now on you should enter the depth you want it to dive to using the waypoints. If you want the submarine to start submerged enter the depth at the SP waypoint, if you want it to start surfaced, have it set to 0 at the SP waypoint and then set it to dive later on (note that it will dive on the leg to the waypoint, not after).

Hello Northstar98,

Thanks for the detailed insights into the submarine diving animation. I will say this. Prior to the update I could manually make the submarine dive. However, since the update and as of yesterday the function wasn't working. It sounds like we need to create a waypoint and within that waypoint set the diving parameter's on the submarine. I will try that to see if that works.

And yes in real life you wouldn't see them at all. I served in the US Navy for 24 years and I never seen one out to sea. Never! Only when they entered port!

Thanks again!

Best Regards,

Jonathan

Oh, are you talking about combined arms? If so there's a slider that allows you to manually control their depth from the F10 map (see the track below).

There are 2 ways:

  1. Set the depth on the waypoint as desired (note that the submarine will submerge to the set depth when said waypoint becomes its next, if that makes sense. Essentially it'll submerge before the waypoint instead of submerging after the waypoint is reached)
  2. If using CA, with a game master slot, you can select the depth using a slider on the F10 map.
