Launcher.exe has stopped working?

Anyone know what this is?

I have only been able to fly BS a few times and now this.

The Multiplayer launcher works but not the single.

Any ideas.

I would reinstall but doesn't that mess up my available activations?

"Lanucher.EXE has stopped working"

Windows is searching for reason

No affinity programs

Could this be a StarForce thing. I just paid some bills, then backed up my financial program on a thumb drive. Could that mess everyting up?

I don't think it would be a star force thing. I haven't seen any star force problems beyond people not wanting it. It's a definate improved system over what it started out as.

Anyway, run the launcher and then when it crashes go:

Start>Control Panel>Adminisitrive Tools>Event Viewer>Windows Logs>Application. Go through them (top down) and your looking for a mention of launcher.exe and copy everything out and paste it into here.

Now I'm getting a DOS like prompt with this quote:

Error getting table field 'command'

PANIC: unprotected error in call to Lua API (attempt to index a nil value)

This is strange. Why would it work then stop without any changes???

Installation of the latest ATI drivers had the same effect for a vast number of Vista users, rectified by the deactivation of the Catalyst A.I. - hence my previous query ;)

Sorry Viper, you must have posted as I was and I missed your reply.

I am running an Nvidia card (8800 GTX) and had made no changes to anything prior to the lanucher failing.

Thanks again for replying

Well if the event viewer is to be believed it's a windows issue.

Have you installed the latest windows updates, done a virus/spyware scan lately?

It might also be worth running scan disk.

It's possible you have data corruption, it could be from any number of things but doing the above may throw up something interesting.

Failing that replacing ntdll.dll might be worth a try, although it's usually a sign of other issues.

Provided that your Hardware/OS remains relatively unchanged - Uninstall and subsequent reinstall will not require another activation.

I would uninstall, clear the registry, reboot and reinstall. Hope you get it sorted :)
