Problem with the FOV camera on some servers

Hi, everyone,

I am having strange issue with my FOV when connecting to some multiplayer servers. At first connecting some of them, mostly DCS Dogfighters - Server 1 - PVP / BFM / ACM - Just Dance!, always distorts the camera:

I have never experienced the issue in any Single player scenario where the camera looks as expected:

I have tried this with several FC3 models on several servers. Some of them load fine, others have the zoomed out FOV. If I disconnect and connect again the FOV is good. I am using ultra wide monitor with native resolution of 3440x1440 and FOV in the DCS settings of 95. I am using also IR tracker with opentrack software which seems to work fine. Does anybody have idea what is causing the issue?

Hi Spacerunner,

I had this issue by myself and believe some servers have settings included which are kind of overriding the own ones. I guess it is a mistake of the server owner to have too many files included into the mission file. I´m not that much of an expert but e. g. you can also insert Kneeboard files to a mission file. So I guess some are including setting files which are creating the issue. Someone a little smarter than I am need to confirm this with a proper explanation. This is at least what I figured out at that time.

Do you have a buddy which enters the same server to compare with?

Hi, xoxen,

Sadly, no, I am flying alone. I too suspect that it is a sever thing but it would be nice if I can do something on my side to fix it. Interestingly, the issue was present even before I switched to 95 FOV few weeks ago, then I was using the default FOV, 60 I have just tried setting the resolution to 1920x1080 with FOV 60 and the server loads just fine. So maybe it is some resolution problem.

If you name me a server I can try and see what happens if I join it.

Sorry, I was out this weekend, but will try tonight and let you know.

Edit: Just checked it and it looks like the lower picture. I was not able to replicate the upper one.

I would do the following: Delete the DCS folder in Saved Games, let it rebuild and copy the folders out of a backup back piece by piece and then have a look everytime you did. For sure the Config folder should be the first one as it has all the settings inside. Honestly I believe one of the view related lua´s could lead to the problem.

This may explain your issue with FOV, it is a server side issue, the Server Admin or mission creator will have to delete the CONFIG/Views folder from within the mission file.

Your FOV is over-ridden by the Servers mission config

As advised, I deleted the DCS folder in Saved Games, loaded the game clean and set my settings. The server loaded perfectly. I moved some folders back (custom missions, inputs for the planes control and so on) and tried to load again two times and it looked good. Thank you very much for the help!

I´m happy that it solved your problem. I had issues entering servers (long waiting time until I was in the cockpit) and solved it in the same way.

Take care.
