Game Avionics mode is missing

I'm not good at this at all. I have a hard enough time trying to figure out where I'm going, and the one thing I had to guide me while I fumble my way around the cockpit is gone.
Any suggestions on how to turn it back on?

Edit: I tried rolling back to a previous version, (2.8.1.34667.2). I got "404 not found".

That's an openbeta version, maybe you are on Stable?

I am on stable. I thought I pulled the number from the stable version list. I'll check again. Thanks!

My mistake, Just checked and that version number is in both Stable and Openbeta. Try the prior one: DCS 2.7.18.30765

I just confirmed that it's the previous stable version.

This is what I get.

Seems you will have to open a support ticket, to know which versions are actually available

I assume you know that the patch notes says:

  • Game Options. Game avionics mode removed

So you want to go back to an earlier version. In your position I'd ask myself if it was worth it.

DCS is always overwhelming to get into but if you just learn to focus on learning to fly and use the autopilots (if available) really well first then learning other systems becomes a lot easier. Certainly don't try to learn it all at once. That is a recipe for frustration!

I didn't realize Game Avionics Mode was removed. I understand some people will not like that, but I belong to those who always considered it a nuisance. I see that the related "Easy" command bindings are gone as well, and that's really good news in my opinion because they caused confusion.
Yes, learning DCS world is a big task and can seem overwhelming for beginners. But you don't need to understand everything immediately. Go step by step, with one aircraft,  exercise the things you understand and make sure you have some fun. I'm flying in DCS World (starting with Lock On) since many years and I cannot pretend I know everything about it. So I'm still learning new things and that's wonderful. And I use the forum when I'm stuck with something. The forum is very helpful.

I didn't until I realized it wasn't there. That's when I tried to roll back to a previous version.

I've been flying the F-15C (FC3) I'm still in the process of finalizing my keybinds for the most part. That was overwhelming in and of itself. I've gotten better at flying, focusing heavily on my landings. I'm getting better, but I still struggle.
The Game Avionics was the one thing I could rely on to keep me on course. Being that I'm still really new at this, I freaked out because that's the only way I know how to navigate for now. I know there are waypoints, but the indicator isn't helpful at all. half the time I don't even know if it's the right waypoint. GAM showed me the selected waypoint, so I knew I at least had the right one. It's really the only "game" mode I use. Everything else is set to Simulator.
I didn't know about the easy commands, I never used them.
I am always checking the forums here. I created an account to make this post, because I didn't see anyone discussing it.

Thanks everyone who chimed in! Your help is greatly appreciated!

The selected waypoint number is right on the HUD in F-15C Nav mode. Check the kneeboard maps to see the flight plan.

You can only use the older DCS version that still had that option. Look at the solution post.

Thanks

I would appreciate that too; i am a 'tourist';, certainly not a button and switching fan, and spend too much time figuring out any newly bought plane,

certainly one big reason i start to avoid DCS more and more and rather spend my scarce time with other sims. Older versions? Bugs?

Sounds like you'd have fun with Instant Action missions with hot starts or airstarts. There are also FC3 modules much lighter on the systems side.
