Well, i mean, if we use LOPE to add the Kopyo radar (and r-77s) to the su-25T.. is it gonna function? :)

...and what I meant was that there would be no reason to mess with the Su-25T to get to fly the Su-25TM ;) .

But the radar pod, R-77s and Kh-31A/Kh-35 missiles do not work - in fact they will be ejected from the Su-25T (and Su-25TM if set to player control). This cannot be changed as it is coded with the AFM.

p.s. and did 1.1 allow you to sharpen the textures of the old models from 2.5?

Well there is no difference between LO 1.0 and 1.1 in terms of texture sizes - I believe that a number of textures were refined though, but I cannot remember exactly which - I only worked on the one for the Su-25TM.

Cheers,

- JJ.

No worries, JJ. Thx for the response though.

The screens you already posted are much appreciated. :)

So tthe SU-39 is really the same jet? Does it have not have any different or extra features than our jet like a tailhook? Its sure would be cool to do carrier ops in this bird!

Hi,

As the added "M" in the designation indicates, the Su-25TM(Su-39) is a further developed Su-25T :)

The airframe is the same and there are no external differences :) . The Su-25TM is a dedicated anti-tank aircraft like the Su-25T, and the only real differnce between them is the addition of the Kopyo multimode radar.

The idea behind it was to increase the "self sufficiency" of the aircraft. The Kopyo-25 radar can support the R-77 air-to-air missile and allows two targets to be engaged simultaneously from TWS(SNP) mode, which(at least in theory) makes the Su-25TM less dependant on fighter escort.

The radar also has 3 ground mapping modes which means that the Su-25TM has an increased ability to search out ground targets on its own and at greater distance - i.e. a supplement to the Shkval system, which I would say is the main advantage of the radar addition.

The radar also has a "maritime" search and track mode which supports the Kh-35 and Kh-31A anti-ship missiles for engagement of sea targets, but I am personally less convinced about the Su-25TM in this role....it can only carry two such missiles, and the nature of the airframe is not the first design you would think of for a long range naval strike aircraft  .

The only current Su-25 version with "carrier capability" is the Su-25UTG...

frogfoot.jpg

...which is a two-seat trainer version used for training naval pilots in landing on the Admiral Kuznetsov. The Su-25UTG is based on the airframe of Su-25UB trainer - the airframe and landing gear was strengthened and it has an arrestor hook, but unlike the Su-25UB it has no armament of any kind(not even a gun).

I agree with you that it would be interesting to have this version(with the AFM) for training carrier landings - especially in connection with an "internet trainer" feature, where two players could crew the aircraft as instructor/trainee respectively. But it would not provide anything in connection with combat missions :) .

Cheers,

- JJ.

Nice screenes Alfa. :)

One thing, could ground crew take a real Su-25T and arm it with the radar and R-77s, thus designating it a TM? Or would there have to be some changes in the avionics and such to accomidate it?

Yes, as Olgerd mentioned, it would require a major avionics upgrade to support it ...which in turn is the essense of what the Su-25TM upgrade was about :) . In addditon to the firecontrol system, also the Skhval system was upgraded(Shkval-M) to allow it to coorporate with the radar :) .

Cheers,

- JJ.
