EvilBivol-1 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 (edited) To get the bad news out of the way, the mission ended up overblown with infantry units and this takes my PC down into the unplayable FPS in the first minutes of the action. Hopefully, some of you may have better luck. Here's the brief: AIR ASSAULT The 12th Separate Air Assault Regiment/56th Airborne Division has been tasked with conducting an assault operation on the town of Khamyshki, 55 km. south of the city of Maykop. In an effort to maintain operational security and maximize the element of surprise, regimental command has planned a helicopter insertion without the use of ground transport or support vehicles. Intelligence reports indicate a substantial concentration of enemy forces in the town. Your task will be to escort the transport helicopters and provide direct fire support to the ground troops throughout the assault operation. OPERATIONAL PLAN: The operation will consist of the following elements: - Group Lead/AFAC: Mi-8 (508.) - Transport Group NORTH: Mi-26 (16, 156) - Transport Group SOUTH: Mi-8 (235, 019) - Transport Group WEST: Mi-8 (045) - Escort Group: Ka-50 (121, 122) - Strike Group: Su-24 (235, 277, 355, 356) The assault will be divided into 5 groups: NORTH-1, NORTH-2, SOUTH-1, SOUTH-2, WEST. NORTH-1 and NORTH-2 will be transported and inserted by Mi-26 transports to the north-eastern edge of the town. SOUTH 1 and SOUTH-2 will be transported and inserted by Mi-8 transports to the south-eastern edge of the town. NORTH-1 and SOUTH-1 will move along the main road to block off the exit routes to the north and south. NORTH-2 and SOUTH-2 will move west to infiltrate the town and capture their designated objectives. WEST will be transported and inserted by a single Mi-8 transport to the elevated terrain 2.5 km. west of the town. WEST will block the west-bound escape route into the surrounding hills. Route escort and direct fire support for the operation will be provided by a two-ship flight of Ka-50 attack helicopters. The landing zones will be suppressed by a four-ship flight of Su-24s immediately prior to the insertion. FLIGHT ROUTE: Take-off from MAYKOP airbase. Maintain a low altitude profile over Maykop city. Climb to 1500 m. south of Maykop city. Maintain 1500 m. enroute. Descent to Khamyshki and maintain altitude as dictated by conditions. PAYLOAD: x4 B-8V20A FFAR pods (total 80 rockets) 100% on-board cannon load. FUEL: 85% KNOWN THREATS: A single pillbox has been uncovered in the southern end of the town. This position is a direct threat to the southern insertion groups and must be neutralized. The pillbox coordinates will be designated as Target Point-1 in the Ka-50 navigation system. Enemy forces are known to be armed with small arms and RPGs. Possible presence of AAA and MANPAD assets. Edited March 10, 2009 by EvilBivol-1 1 - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Yossarian Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 There is a big mistake in your mission. This music is absolutely necessary for air cavalry short before action begins: http://www.lastfm.de/music/Richard+Wagner/_/Ride+of+the+Valkyries :music_whistling:
Distiler Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Cool one, I love flying through canyions and valleys. Shooting soldiers is another thing, it's very difficult! but it's very cool seeing them run from the cockpit! Devas Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 THX EvilBivol-1 for the mission. I would translate the mission into Spanish for my squad and they can fly with the info in our language. Now thanks again  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Playing war, and our own way, is the quickest and most direct way of leading to the cemetery, to us and to our colleagues ...

MBot Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Had the chance to play it with a friend yesterday. Good mission, I liked the well layed out briefing and the good atmosphere. Fps was fine too. The only suggestion from me would to not embed lables into the mission, which was not so good for immersion.
Sir Charcharro Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Possible to give a new link? Think that one is broken... Atleast all I get is some numbers and letters on my screen... 11600K/3080Ti/32gb/1Tb NVME/HP G2

ericinexile Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 EB, Is it possible to post this file in zip form? Smokin' Hole My DCS wish list: Su25, Su30, Mi24, AH1, F/A-18C, Afghanistan ...and frankly, the flight sim world should stop at 1995.
EvilBivol-1 Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Sorry guys, forgot about this. Here's a ZIP archive instead: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=8a7d46b273739fc7185d67d3b3f46be50f7b3ce10e21e52bb52c79e89f0f29e8 P.S. I have a somewhat improved version of the mission, but it will probably go into the 1.0.1 patch or after, because I'd like to use the smoke marker trigger to help the player locate enemy positions. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. ericinexile Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 EB, That was fun. Unfortunately I didn't pass because I got distracted by the insurgency in the town and failed to notice the second ****(no spoiler here). Very cool use of infantry. PS--I think I need some engine work done on my Ka50. I still can't climb with a fully loaded Mi26. EvilBivol-1 Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Thanks for playing. :) I still can't climb with a fully loaded Mi26.That's just it - he isn't fully loaded. An unfortunate lack of calculation for all AI transports. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
LKNANML Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 True.. AI can do amazing feats of aeronautics! AI script vs computer power. You can see the dif when flying with wing man.. Go to outside view and look at your lower rotor and see the load flex on the right then look at your wing man. No load showing.. Damn fun mission. FPS seemed fine on Vista 64, 4800 1G
EagleEye Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 ...because I'd like to use the smoke marker trigger to help the player locate enemy positions.
