Hi, I have a problem. I have an X-52 Pro Throttle that I bought in January. I stepped away from DCS for about a month, and now that I started to pull it up again I am having a problem with the rudder. I have it assigned to the "twist" part of the stick, and for some reason when I quickly give it rudder to the right, it will sometimes STICK there. It does not happen all the time, only sometimes.

I have gone through and remapped the controls. I have pulled out the USB plug for it, and put it back in. The stick axes commands are all done through the game (the others through Saitek software), and I have cleared it and reinstalled. It still sticks. I checked the joystick through Windows, working fine. When it "sticks", if I press "z" on the keyboard, it recenters itself (and z is the opposite way of the way it sticks...it doesn't go to the left by pressing z when stuck, just brings the rudder back to neutral position...very odd).

Has anyone else experienced this or any thing like this, and if so what did you do to correct it?

(for now, I think I am just going to have to remap the rudder command to something else, but I really don't like it that it is doing this)

Please, read this post http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=626409&postcount=10 (instead of deleting custom files, just move them into another temporary folder). After that make new axis assignment and check.

does the stick physcially stick there, or does only the input-signal stick ?

No, it is in-game only. It is odd, it starts to go back as if normal, just about gets there to the middle, and then just pulls all the way right.

As I said, if I press "z," it re-centers it..then it acts like normal except in the case of when I give it rudder to the right again.

This doesn't make any sense. I did this and then took off the twist the stick for rudder (so rudder was only used by default keyboard), it still twisted to the right.

I think I did what I was supposed to; went to the folder and deleted all joystick/keyboard/mouse assignments except default (headtrack and trackIR were there too, but only default files).

I have had long time issues with My X52 "bouncing" on the rotorary wheels. It would kind of jump up and down slightly makeing my view "bounce" in and out slightly (rotory was bound to zoom view) I tried everything and eventually just lived with it, but the other day I wound up doing a fresh install of windows on my shiney new TB hard drive and the problem no longer exsists. Extreme no doubt but may solve your problem

Please explain, what the function of "Z" key on your keyboard? I dont understand, why your rudder centered when you press "Z"? Do you use some special software for it? It's very strange joystick behavior.

The x and z keys contol the rudder (I thought this was default). When I do twist the stick and it gets "stuck" to the right, it will only move from the right (which now becomes the "center) to the middle, it won't go to the left. For some strange reason, if I press z (which is left rudder), it takes the "stuck" rudder and recenters it to the middle.

I agree, it is very strange. I had no problems before, I hadn't played in maybe a month, and now it does this. If I disconnect the joystick, it does not do it, and when I test the joystick out on everything else, it shows to work 100% correctly.

If I have the joystick active, and do not have the rudder connected through twisting the stick, it still will do it on occasion.

HELP!?!?!?

Any other ideas to try?

I have an x52 and have had no such issue...though I now have the twist locked and use pedals.

Anway, as a test, open up the joystick control panel (not the saitek SST , but the windows control panel) .. check the rudder axis...twist the stick a bunch of times and see if it sticks there also.

If it does, then your joystick is a little borked...if it is out of warranty, consider getting a screwdriver and opening it up to figure out what is sticking..could just be a detached spring or a brocken bit of plastic that can be superglued.

If it does not, then go through your button assigments in game with a fine toothed comb and MAKE SURE you do not have anything else bound to your rudder movement (in keyboard, mouse or joystick buttons or axis) .. it could be something silly like having your pitch axis bound to both pitch and rudder...

Tested in control panel early on, works perfectly.

Went through the in-game button assignments with an antique 1977 fine-toothed comb (and three times over), and not any problem with conflicts. If I get rid of the rudder completely, no problem. If it is adjusted in-game or through software, it sticks.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it.

Aren't you accidentally pressing trim button? I just made a little test: applied full left rudder and trimmed it there, then pressed "z" or "x" keys and indeed, they centered the rudder. Seems like you are experiencing the same, so pay attention to trim button (you may be hitting it accidentally, using wrongly or have mapping conflict).

yes, very good point...

press "crtl-enter" while in the cockpit, and note what is hapenning to the rudders...as you could be double trimming, or accidentally trimming and getting "double transforms" like Zaltys said.

I would do a remap default with the control settings in DCS first and then see how it flys. Maybe you have accidently set up your rudder in the trimmer as well as the rudder--that would make it stick :joystick:

I thank you for all the suggestions. Sadly, I only have 4 axes programmed through the game. There is no conflict with rudder and trim. The joystick buttons are all mapped to the Saitek software. I would think that is where the conflict is, between software and program, but it worked perfectly the first month I had it.

I got away from it for about 3-4 weeks and then started flying, and it took me two days to realize the world doesn't spin constantly, my rudder on the back of the chopper was sticking.

If I eliminate everything, using keyboard only default set up, NO sticky problem. Only thing is, I got this $150 joystick for this game.

That is why I am so frustrated.

I'm going in for another try, but I have zeroed out, deleted mapping files, set all to default, uninstalled and reinstalled the joystick. Everything show it SHOULD work, but then the rudder sticks.

Is there any possibility of hitting the trim button by accident, as ZaltysZ said? There does not need to be a mapping conflict for that to happen, just a little added pressure from gripping the stick to give a twist input that might cause a button to get inadvertently depressed and thereby set the trim to that high rudder input.

I don't quite understand what you saying but...maybe you mapped the joystick rudder to x and z keys (ins rudder category) instead of going to "axis commands" category and map the rudder there.

impossible. You can't map axis to button action and vice versa.

But similar thing can be done using Saitek SST Profiler - for example, user can divide some axis to bands and then map these bands to buttons. See picture.

:joystick:Do you have any other flight sims like FSX you can test your stick on?

Ahh, good thought. I will try that.

I know that the profiler is not "double" mapped. I checked it command by command.
