hello,

i have and amd dual core @ 3,12 ghz, 4 g ram, vista os (32b), and ati hd4850.

i get framerates between 9-13 on maps with a lot of buildings/units.

this is insanely low.

how do i set up ati catalyst?

i already made viewing distance in game to medium which helped a bit, lowering every other setting doesnt make any difference (which is weird)...

if i put the game on 800*600 and al sets low i get an increase of maybe 2 fps...?????? wtf?????

i was tweaking some in catalyst and it helped for me earlier (getting around 27 fps in cockpit view) but after i installed the new catalyst i couldnt use catalyst ai anymore so i returned to to older catalyst drivers...

so here is a pic of my setttings that give me crap framerates....yes i disabled windows aero, set affinity, and set in xp compatibilty mode, is did all this silly things i have to do before even starting the game..

I use:

AA=8

AF=8

Catalyst AI= Standard

Try my settings.

With my medium old computer, I have no problems.. looks and sounds great.. not the best framerates, but clearly no lag.. or slowing..

:thumbup:

note: my settings work great in all my flight sim..

IL-2 Black Shark, WOV, Falcon4, and LockOn:FC.

ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind

G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD

EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer)

55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR

Check full screen (options -> system) and disable mirrors (options -> mirrors). Check in the task manager that cpu have affinity set in all cores.

Mirrors literally eat your fps.

BTW when you say "if i put the game on 800*600 and al sets low i get an increase of maybe 2 fps...?????? wtf?????", it may be you are having a CPU or maybe ram limiting factor there (you graphic card is waiting for the cpu even at lower res/detail). Are you 100% sure both cores are being used?

yes both cores are checked (i use the affinty tool for it now btw)

cpu should be fast enough (3,12 ghz,2 cores [amd])

my ram is kingston and has a vista score of 5 (dont understand why actually)

i had my fair share of bad luck with this pc (replaced dvd drive memory hard drive earlier because of instability and boot problems)

ati radeon hd 4850

my framerates are much better now btw, when using external views it goes up to ~50, cockpit view stays low, 27 at best.

i noticed that whenever the horizon comes in view in the cocpit (which is almost always ofc) it affects fps very bad, i already set view distance to medium but i really hate doing that because it makes it so much harder to spot enemys.

all that said, my fps have gotten a lot better already and dcs is at least playable...still feel i should be able to get more out of this pc..

The problem would be with your cpu I imagine, I had an ATI 4850 which ran the game fine, make sure water is set to normal is the biggest improvement then the mirrors help. In CCC make sure that A.I is disabled or standard the rest shouldnt make much difference. You should be able to have 4x AA 16xAF and mipmap on quality, I dont have the v sync option on or the triple buffer.
