DivinuZ Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Hi all! I'm getting my teeth into the GOW campaign - but with some trouble in the area defense missions. Take for example the 3.1 mission in the first part of the campaign. I know that I am supposed to protect the units at tp2, and my guess is the best way to do this is to eliminate the enemy at tp1 and tp3. However - doing so only renders about 50% success. Which is fine by be, but it would be nice to know exactly what I am supposed to do. Does it matter if I fly over the 'attack point'? Because right now I'm mostly staying around the ingress-point to avoid AA stuff etc, and just sniping with my shkval... It just doesn't feel very realistic that two helis would take out three marching groups of pansar aswell as the enemies artillery... Happy flying!
ZaltysZ Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 You are not supposed to always get 100%. Mission success does not equal to your personal success. Mission success equals to your side success. Your side is made from you, friendly aircrafts, friendly ground units. Sometimes you can't physically kill everything and in time, but again, you not supposed to be hero, are not supposed to do the job in which friendly tanks have screwed. Fly realistically, engage realistically, don't risc; don't just hang near the tank shooting at it with cannon to get higher score. 50% is enough, as 50% means that your side have won the missions and it will advance. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
Jack57 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Yes it is very misleading that they call it Mission Success % in the mission and Mission Success Rate % in the campaign summary screen. It should really say Balance of Power and each mission should start at 50% and go up or down depening on the progression of the mission. The problem with this arises with Recon and SEAD missions where the neither the allies or the enemy are necessarily advancing - in this case the "score" will stay at 0% indefinately unless you do something. With Area Defence and Advance missions the scenario will unfold whether you do anything or not. This is a limitation of the way the campaign engine is designed. It has it's advantages and disadvantages - you just need to recognise the different types of missions and play them accordingly. jctrnacty Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Defense of area is usually after low score in previous mission. Those are really tough missions , most of them are really hard to accomplish on high score. i personnally had to restart campaign to be able to finish it.
