I was wondering why the frame drop so dramaticly when approaching a combat area, first i tought it was the vehircles and explosions smoke etc. Recently i was doing a startup and takeoff from a heli pad and switched on the SHKVAL TV, my eyes popped out almost when i noticed the frames dropped from 60 to 48. Can someone confirm this please becouse a bit frame decrease is normal but this is 10- to 15-. The cockpit resolution is at 512 but i get the same decrease when rendering 256! The only possibility that course such frame drop is when the SHKVAL TV image is rendering behind the dash, if so ED should consider if its fixeble in a patch so we gain a few FP to make it for some people more playble. I mean 40 FPS is the minimum for me in a game. When i fly over city's with the SHKVAL TV on, frames are low 30ish.

You can't be serious :megalol:

Above 25pfs is smoot enough for flying, you say that you got about 30fps over city.. Why is that too low ?? :D

yes of course we all want as much FPS as we can ...

try tweaking settings

I notice an instant 20% FPS drop when I open up the Shkval , yeah it's bad

Infiniti3d, I'm a bit at a loss on understanding how you can be surprised that FPS drops with the Shkval on. It's another camera rendering 3D, so of course it lowers your total FPS! This is beyond just rendering some extra pixels here or there, it's a new camera being caluclated and rendered and it's own pixel resolution will not necesarrily have all that much to do with the performace you get, depending on hardware situation.

Furthermore, cinema chose 24-25 frames per second for movies because that is the point where the human brain starts to lose the ability to discern the frames as the stills they are as opposed to a fluid moving picture. If you can watch a movie or DVD without getting annoyed by the framerate then any annoyances you get at "low 30ish" are quite likely psychosomatic. You know it goes down and your brain conjurs an impression to fit your knowledge.

while this is very true for movies , movies are very stable and fluid .

I can "feel" the difference to much higher framerates then that , I see the difference between 60 fps and 80 fps to give you an idea ..

and that is because gaming is more involved than just watching a movie , you move around in a game , react and move your view around with your mouse or TIR .

surely you can feel it too in how easy it is to click in cockpit when getting better frames for instance ...

Thanks S77th-RYKE, so know it has not something to do with my configuration and thats what i wanted to know before making change's to any settings

@EtherealN ,my monitor has a refresch rate of 60 and there for it wil when vsync is on not go beyond 60FPS, at 50-60 fps i see a fluid motion everything below that is crap for any game. But in the end i wasn't aiming on a certian amount of frames, i was only wondering why the TV is eating instantly so many frames wich seems to me that a few would be normal becous anoyher 3D cam must render, but not 20%!!!! Therefore i think the TV is rendering behind the dashboard also. I noticed that my CPU is the limited factor for BS so i turned on supersample with 16XAA, 16XAF and Vsync, at least the picture quality is very good:). psychosomatic ?

Here's link wich explains whats playble and whats less playble:

Exactly. Sometime ago I thought eeeh "25 FPS is also smooth". But not in games. It is sensible feeling, I can rather recognise when FPS drop from example 50 to 30. It is still smooth but I "feel" FPS drop anyway.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Boberro etc, point taken but I do have to say that the only times I've reacted to a slowdown has turned out to be cases where I've gotten microstutters in the vein of the FPS for a split second going single-digit and so on.

Then again, I grew up with Blue Angels and Knights of the Sky on the Amiga, so any double-digit FPS is luxury to me. :P
