I've been playing around with the Su-25T quite a bit - just learning the systems and enjoying the flight modelling. The one thing that's had me completely stumped for the last couple of nights, though, is crosswind landings. :noexpression:

I've been flying out of Maykop and just practising crosswind landings over and over, but I can't get them right at all.

I've tried cross-coupled approaches, but I never seem to have enough rudder authority to line up with the runway against a 10m/s 90 degree crosswind. If I use the rudder to line the runway up, I drift to the right no matter how hard I bank to the left.

That leaves crabbing approaches. I can make a clean, comfortable approach in a crab, but as soon as my wheels touch the runway, the wings dip hard to the right - far faster than I can react. This frequently results in a burst tire or, in the best case, me "chasing" the aircraft the aircraft in a desperate attempt to get the wings level and the nose pointing down the runway.

My stress levels are so high I feel like I'm on the verge of a heart attack.

So... has anyone got any tidbits of :smartass: or :book: to help me :pilotfly:in a way that makes me :) instead of ?

There are limits to landing any aircraft in a cross-wind. I forget what those limits are for the SU-25T, but you're looking at a 20kt cross-wind here.

Try putting in rudder as you're touching down to help.

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

For Su-25 is 13 m/s. I don´t know about Su-25T but maybe the same.
