External / Camera view question

If I am trying to follow a scenario as an observer to see how it plays out.

How can I define which aircraft I am following on mission start ?

I know I can use F10 and select an aircraft, however there may be something I want to see right as the mission starts.

Must be something simple but I can't find it.

I would think hitting F2 (before you start the mission) until you get to the aircraft you want to follow should work.  At least that is what I do.
