Heiliger Bimbam Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) Hi, I' missing some parts and can't locate them. The tyres for example. They are part of the KA-50-PAINT5 and they are not visible, but the rims are. The rotor control arms are missing. They're a part of PAINT2 and PAINT2 is there, as you can see on the screenshot. Some of the PAINT2 gear parts are missing, too. Is this a Vtulka_met problem and how can I fix it up? Hydraulic arms for the gears are missing, too. But the rotor mast is visible...both are located in the same file. Is the a texture-alpha problem? Any Idea? Here is my skin.lma7 (my files are named "test") [skin] file = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50.skins argument = 70 l1 = material = {"KA-50-lamp", "Standart", "KA-50-PAINT-D-DEF-02.bmp"}; l2 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT1", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-01.bmp"}; l3 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT1_M", "Standart", "KA-50-PAINT-D-DEF-01.bmp"}; l4 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT2", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-02.bmp"}; l5 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT3", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-03.bmp"}; l6 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT4", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-04.bmp"}; l7 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT5", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-05.bmp"}; l8 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT6", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-06.bmp"}; l9 = material = {"KA-50-Vtulka_met", "Standart", "KA-50-PAINT-D-DEF-02.bmp"}; l10 = material = {"SOPLA_KA-50-PAINT3", "Standart", "KA-50-PAINT-D-DEF-03.bmp"}; l11 = material = {"KA-50-gear-rubber", "Standart", "KA-50-PAINT-D-DEF-05.bmp"}; l12 = material = {"KA-50_ST-rm_paint1", "Standart", "Ka-50_St_Paint2.bmp"}; l13 = material = {"KA-50_Lifting_rotor_mast", "Standart", "KA-50-LRM_test.bmp"}; l14 = material = {"KA-50_LRM_Part", "Standart", "KA-50-LRMpart_test.bmp"}; l15 = material = {"KA-50_LRM-CENTRE", "Standart", "KA-50-LRM_centre_test.bmp"}; l16 = material = {"KA-50-LRM_B", "Standart", "KA-50-LRM_B-24.bmp"}; l17 = material = {"KA-50_BORT_NUMBERs", "Standart", "KA-50_NUMBERS-D.tga"}; l18 = material = {"KA-50_Turkey_Numbers", "Standart", "empty.tga"}; [color_scheme] country = {B2A43A73-E650-49B0-98B9-F67A53DA95FD} cnt_unit = {3457BB1E-523F-4C24-BBEA-58D028623F05} color_scheme = {DD5118E5-CB86-430f-8DC8-7F738D0B9550} color_name = Test Skin file = Scripts\Database\helicopters\Ka-50.lua Edited March 31, 2009 by Heiliger Bimbam [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RCN_Moose Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 It looks like you may have left some layers turned off when you saved your files as bmp's. When you open your bmp's can you see the tires for example? (paint5)
Heiliger Bimbam Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 Yes, they're visible. The control arms and the other missing parts, too. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RCN_Moose Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 And the same for L1, L3 L9 and L10 (should all be test instead of paint) The way the skin files work, you have the same file called multiple times for different areas. You renamed the main ones, but missed the others and left them as a default. (which apparently doesn't exist, hence why you're missing parts)
Heiliger Bimbam Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 Oh, thought, these files were kind of default textures. Didn't see that they're multiple. Changed the names, but its still bugged. I downloaded the template files again and saved them again as 24bit files. Edited the skin.lma7, made a new CDDS file and made a new skin. [skin] file = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50.skins argument = 70 otherfile1 = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-BLADE.skins otherfile2 = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-NOSE.skins otherfile3 = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-TAIL.skins otherfile4 = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-WING-L.skins otherfile5 = Bazar\World\Shapes\KA-50-WING-R.skins l1 = material = {"KA-50-lamp", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-02.bmp"}; l2 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT1", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-01.bmp"}; l3 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT1_M", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-01.bmp"}; l4 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT2", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-02.bmp"}; l5 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT3", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-03.bmp"}; l6 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT4", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-04.bmp"}; l7 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT5", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-05.bmp"}; l8 = material = {"KA-50-PAINT6", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-06.bmp"}; l9 = material = {"KA-50-Vtulka_met", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-02.bmp"}; l10 = material = {"SOPLA_KA-50-PAINT3", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-03.bmp"}; l11 = material = {"KA-50-gear-rubber", "Standart", "KA-50-test-DEF-05.bmp"}; l12 = material = {"KA-50_ST-rm_paint1", "Standart", "Ka-50_St_Paint_test.bmp"}; l13 = material = {"KA-50_Lifting_rotor_mast", "Standart", "KA-50-LRM_test.bmp"}; l14 = material = {"KA-50_LRM_Part", "Standart", "KA-50-LRMpart_test.bmp"}; l15 = material = {"KA-50_LRM-CENTRE", "Standart", "KA-50-LRM_centre_test.bmp"}; l16 = material = {"KA-50-LRM_B", "Standart", "KA-50-LRM_B_test.bmp"}; l17 = material = {"KA-50_BORT_NUMBERs", "Standart", "empty.tga"}; l18 = material = {"KA-50_Turkey_Numbers", "Standart", "TactNumbers-USAF-black.tga"}; [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RCN_Moose Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 If you put your bmp files in the temptexture directory how does it look? (this will bypass the cdds file altogether to rulo it out)
Heiliger Bimbam Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) I got it. Seems Modman added the Test Skin twice to BS. There are two "Test Skin" templates in the editor skin pulldown menu. One with uncomplete skin.lma7 and one with the new completed skin.lma7 I dont know why there are two Test Skins, but the second is working and is complete. I didn't changed the color_scheme. Interesting, that Modman added the same skin twice with different skin.lma7 files. Thanks a lot (again), Moose. Edited March 31, 2009 by Heiliger Bimbam [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RCN_Moose Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 No Problem. I don't think theres anyone here who thinks the convoluted method required to add skins is easy :)
CrazyD Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Just to add my 2 cents - make sure that the spelling and "-" and/or "_" are exact to what Black Shark is looking for - I found that out if it isn't, even though most of the skin file worked, elements of that skin file would be missing - ie: the rotor mast control linkages would be missing, but the rest of the colours of that skin file (Paint1) would show as normal. or the tires would show but the rims would not. Frustating as hell!
Heiliger Bimbam Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 Thanks for the hint. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
