topol-m Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 (edited) I`ve found very little info on this remarkable missile developed by (KBP) instrument design bureau of Tula, Russia, as it is probably still in a testing state. If anyone can find more info about it, please post it down. The small amount of stats that i managed to find speak for themselves: the firing range probably will be approx. 18km for the "A" version; super sonic speed; warhead weight - 28 kg (the Vikhr`s one is 8 kg); can also attack slow- and low-flying air targets such as helicopters and unmanned air vehicles. It has been developed for use by Mi-28N, Ka-52, Su-39 and a by ground based launching platform. The land based system compromise two vehicles , one carries the 24 missiles the other vehicles carries the radar based guidenes system. Another version of the land based system will be able to hit targets at 40km+, rather than the 3-8km of a typical anti-tank missile, so it can be regarded as a tactical missile rather than a pure anti-tank weapon. Mid-course guidance: Inertial (short - range) or radio command (long - range versions). Terminal - homing. The 15-20 km version (in tube) has 110 kg of weight. topol-m Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 News about Hermes from MAKS-2009: Yuri Savenkov leader of the Instrument Design Bureau of Tula delegation in MAKS-2009 announced that it is expected the testing phase of the Hermes missile complex to be completed in 2010 and serial production to start in 2011-2012. It will replace the "Ataka" missiles used by Mi-28N/Ka-52 (which will be the first machines armed with the new system). There are also plans to make the Hermes complex fully compatible and usable by Pantsir S1 Air defence system. Info from Ria Novosti. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Boberro Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I read about these missiles before and I see still no changes. I suspected earlier production than 2011-2012 hmm ;) It seems heavy missile 28 kg it is a lot. I don't know what for SU-39 missiles if it is disaster to pick up laser missiles on old plane with low TV, same situation was Vikhrs on plane. I heard there are Su-25UBM back again to test and production as commander plane and target designation? Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
topol-m Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 This missile is not laser guided it`s using inertial and radio command guidance and homing at the terminal flight stage. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team Groove Posted August 23, 2009 ED Team Posted August 23, 2009 The missile looks almost exactly the same as the 57E6-E missile from Tula. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
topol-m Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 The missile looks almost exactly the same as the 57E6-E missile from Tula. There are little differences but yes they are very much alike. They are the same calibre, probably that`s why they say it could be integrated into Pantsir S1 system. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

So I must mislead it with something when I was typying post. Anyway it is still not FF ;P Edited August 23, 2009 by Boberro Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... topol-m Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 So I must mislead it with something when I was typying post. It is still not FF ;P It`s not "fire and forget" which it compensates with increased range and powaaa ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CE_Mikemonster Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Sorry for sounding thick but is this going to be the Next Big thing in terms of Russian guided AT missiles, and also how is it guided to target? Radio commands the entire way from the launch vehicle (once the missile has arrived on the battlefield using it's INS)? Too many cowboys. Not enough indians. GO APE SH*T
topol-m Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 I think it is going to be the new russian BIG thing judging from the missile system`s stats. Of course nothing is final but at least it looks like it has the potential of becoming the new big thing. The guidance system is still not explained in details what is known that it`s going to be inertial at the start of the missile flight, and radio command/homing at the mid and late flight phase. What type of homing guidance will it use is unclear and AFAIK there is no official info rather than at last stage of flight the missile will have some guidance independence from the operator (as i get it the missile will need radio commands until it is close enough to be able to track the target itself). At which point this guidance will be engaged, does this mean radio command will be disengaged at the same time, etc. details haven`t been revealed so far. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
