coder1024 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I just bought cachya and got it setup and working. The preview window and 3D sample work great. But the next question is, how do I get this to work in DCS Black Shark for view control? Can anyone who has this working give me some quick tips on where to start? Yskonyn Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 hi there! Forgive me, but what exactly is cachya? Is it a piece of hardware or is it a software thingy? EtherealN Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 It's a software kit that allows you to use a webcam as you would use a TrackIR. 192nd_Erdem Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 As far as I know, Black Shark uses an encyripted TrackIR interface for TrackIR. That means only TrackIR devices can be used with Black Shark. Freetrack has a way "around" it, but I don't know about cachya.
Yskonyn Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Ok, I'll stop hi-jacking this thread. ;) I am sorry that I can't be of any help, coder. EtherealN Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Erdem, there is a different thread with people using (and swearing by) Cachya for Black Shark. I'll see about finding it. coder1024 Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 Thanks for the responses! I probably should have posted a link originally and a brief note as to what cachya was. Looks like the trick is using the virtual joystick and then configuring the axis for that joystick. Thanks for the sample settings I'll give those a try. martinistripes Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Anyone got Cachya working with BS and Vista 64? The 6DOF demo in the config screen is working great, however when I load up BS there is no Cachya virtual joystick. Is there still an issue with the 64 bit driver in 2.1 beta? Is there still an issue with the 64 bit driver in 2.1 beta? i have cachya but I don't have vista 64... but the cachya virtual joy should show up in "game controllers" in the control panel... if it doesn't getting it to show up there would be your first step! perhaps the game controller can be added like they can in XP? I don't have that much experience with vista...
eifionglyn Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Anyone bought the full version recently? Paid my fifteen bucks, got a registration key by email, but the upgrade process in the software doesn't seem to be doing anything. Have emailed their cust. support, I'll report back with what happens.

Paid my fifteen bucks, got a registration key by email, but the upgrade process in the software doesn't seem to be doing anything. Have emailed their cust. support, I'll report back with what happens. They had issues with their ISP. It seems to be fixed now though as I registered my copy successfully this afternoon. eifionglyn Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Just got mine registered succesfully :-) off to try it now.
Guest DrJimi Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Greetings from a relative KA50 noob (about 20 hours flight time). I've been reading these and related posts with interest. It's likely I'll get a TIR5, but felt Cachya was worth trying given the price. Successfully registered/upgraded today and used Sharekster64's settings as a baseline (thanks!). Spent about 30 mins zeroing-in the settings to suit my camera and room lighting. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this worked and using a head-tracker was a whole new experience. Initially I was only getting 5.5fps, but got 20fps after de-selecting 'low light'. Also needed to invert the X axis (lean). It does occasionally lose track and the pit view 'tumbles' until track is regained, but I think I can fine-tune the settings and tweak ambient lighting to help. I expect this takes more fiddling to get working than TIR, but it does appear to work quite well. I still plan on a TIR in the near future, but I'm motivated to keep tweaking Cachya to see how good I can get it to perform. Head tracking sure brings a new level of fun and capability. Best, Jimi
martinistripes Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I've been unable to get this to work with Vista 64. More specifically, the Virtual Joystick driver won't install because it is unsigned. It would be possible to use the software to emulate mouse look, and zoom but haven't got round to setting this up yet. For now, I will wait out for the DCS patch (to implement the mouse look properly) and the next version of Cachya. Valve Index | RTX 4080 (Mobile) | i9-14900HX @ 2.20 GHz | 32GB RAM
Frederf Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Just trying the Cachya trial 2.10 and everything's working fine except the Virtual Joystick. When I try to "Plug in Virtual Joystick Device" a window pops up wanting to find vhidmini.sys and then Hid.dll. Pointing to these two files still gives the error "Failed to plug in device." It would work on FSX but not on something which requires the "workaround" VirJoy. I even managed to get my X year old Logitech Quick Zoom camera working in Windows 7 64 which is amazing in and of itself. 1
