gnomechild Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Loadouts with partially filled TERs (specifically with one of the side rails open) should allow the carrying of sidewinders without needing the SWA. For example in the photo, when I try to add an aim-9J to the rail over the empty spot of the TER, the whole thing is removed. 4
Gunfreak Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I noticed this too. Almost all the books I've read/listened too have talked about 12 bombs as a standard load out. Be it slicks or snake eyes. But I found it odd that that would mean they could only fly with Sparrows for self defence. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
gnomechild Posted May 30, 2024 Author Posted May 30, 2024 For 12 bombs and wing tanks you'd still have to take TERs with three bombs, which wouldn't be compatible with sidewinders without the SWA. You sure you weren't reading about Navy Phantoms? The USN jets had different pylons that did not need the Special Weapons Adapter to mix TERs and Sidewinders
