Stalker: Clear Sky

I played Stalker: Chernobyl a while back, it was very fun, I just ordered Stalker: Clear Sky. It should be a hoot. I don't care for the usual army games... but Stalker pc game is really a blast..

i have also played the 2 stalker games there good value never finished them both got stuck in the last few areas

Make sure you install latest patch. For me the atmosphere in both Stalker games is fantastic and the faction wars in the latest if they work are truly awesome. Also the weapons and suits upgrades are the best.

 

A new Stalker game is coming this fall, Stalker Call of Pripyat and it will be the continuation of SoC. For the info available so far it sounds fantastic and it will be probably the best of the three.

There's also been rumors that the "proper" sequel will be using CryEngine2. *drool* (Call of Pripyat is, like Clear Sky, a "standalone expansion", so afaik that engine change doesn't apply to it.)

 

Anyone have better info on that? Was a while since I checked since I haven't played Stalker in ages - besides for a very quick Clear Sky run to test my new machine.

while my machine is no slouch, it would defintely need more horspower to even bump the settings past medium, if that.. plus when I did fly the first Stalker I played on an easy setting,, imagine advanced with a powerful computer .. WoW!

Gods damn it, you're making me want to load that game up again... :P

 

(When I played through it I had to run it on Dx9 low settings because it was my old laptop... I'm getting tempted to run a proper playthrough of it on my new machine, because I already know it can make it look sooooooo nice. :D I'll have to have a look at which mods would be good first though - all modding I did last time was basically myself modding a few setting files to allow a greater load to be carried because, well... It was getting really annoying to run shuttle traffic between warzones and places where I could sell shit. )

 

Happen to have a list of the mods you use and some brief words of what sold you to them? (Aside from the sharper textures, them I've already checked out.)

Hey Viper, which version of Clear Sky do you have? It seems it just got updated and CS:Enhanced got some really strange graphical bugs with the equipment screens, but I'm trying to figure out if I just made some boneheaded mistake with my installation.

Vanilla patched once to 1.5.09 and modded as above.

how well does multiplayer work in Clear Sky? I never tried it when I player Chernobyl. I should have my copy of CS by the middle of next week..

I've never even connected to a Stalker (Chernobyl or Clear Sky) multiplayer server. For me it's all about the atmosphere in single play.

 

Ah, and yeah Viper, seems like my version is 1.5.08 and that's the latest one released to the Steam version, and there's all kinds of really funky stuff happening with the graphics that I don't recall from when I first installed it to this machine. :(

I finished Stalker Clear Sky 2 days ago. it rocked! 2 years ago I played Stalker SOC. I like them both a lot, but I think SOC was a little better, probably because it's concept was new and more of a mind bending mind blower back then.. they both are extremely challenging and very good prices on on the games make them great!

 

Lots of fun, lots of frustration in obtaining goals... because you get your ass kicked al the time... too much fun! and you get sweet revenge back!

If you do play it, I recommend playing Clear Sky first...

 

even though they released the sequel, before the prequel. Which is what most of us did,.. played the 2nd one first... because that was the order they were released... but hot damm.. maybe it is better to play them reversed...

you can get the retail version of each for about $10 to $12 new... there are OEM versions sold too, and cheap..
