JaBoG32_Prinzartus Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I wonder when a tank gets hit by a vikhr, but is not destroyed, is there an increased performance of the tank simulated? decreased speed (simulating damaged engine, damaged chains), decreased fire precision/acuracy (simulating damaged FireControlSystem, wounded crew,.), decreased rate of fire (panicked crew), non functional maschine gun (broken by missile balst) etc... I fear there is not! If not, then I wonder why ED is working on GFX "features" like grass instead of improving battle simulation logic. Can someone provide a some info on the (tank) damage model? EvilBivol-1 Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Partial damage results in reduced aiming accuracy. P.S. Improved grass has little to nothing to do with improved damage modeling for AI vehicles. Every aspect of the program can and is developed according the available resources for that particular aspect. 1 - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. EtherealN Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I fear there is not! If not, then I wonder why ED is working on GFX "features" like grass instead of improving battle simulation logic. To elaborate a bit on EB1's post on that: they are not mutually exclusive because ED has more than one programmer, and the various programmers have differing speciality. And you definitely do NOT want the graphics guys to work on complex damage simulations. :P Much rather have them cranking out good textures and models and display routines if you ask me. In the modern industry "programmer" isn't a job, it's a category of jobs, and while there are some aces out there that can do several types of advanced programming well, they usually will still have a speciality that you want them to stay at. JaBoG32_Prinzartus Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 Partial damage results in reduced aiming accuracy. That sounds good! I did not know that. CAT_101st Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 So by that If I hit a tank with AP rounds the tank will have a harder time hitting me in the air. th3flyboy Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I personally would like to see things such as tread damage and disabled systems implemented on ground and sea vehicles as well as air vehicles. I know it's a air combat sim, however let's face it, you are developing the air to ground stuff first, so get the air to ground as detailed as possible...
