Flyby Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Here's a link to an article over at Tom's where the benefits of more system ram is looked at. YMMV. ;) http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/memory-module-upgrade,2264.html Flyby out The U.S. Congress is the best governing body that BIG money can buy.

EtherealN Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Yeah, I was thinking about 8gigs on my machine when I bought it, but a previous article with some similar benchmarks turned me off of that idea and I decided to go for a cheap 2x2. It is really interesting to see the differences be that small, though. K9COP1193 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Good article, thanks for sharing. Do you think DD3 memory is over rated at this time? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Flyby Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 (edited) hi K9. That's a tough question for me. But I did a search and found this article: http://www.build-gaming-computer-guide.com/ddr3-vs-ddr2.html As you can see, the article is over a year old. Things change, primarily the price of ddr3 is dropping. Still, it's good info. If I had to choose today, I'd take the advantages of ddr3 over '2 right now. If I find more recent info, I'll post a link. BTW, glad I found the site in the link. Maybe I'll learn sumptin. ;) Of course if anyone finds a good link to answer this question, the more info the better, I say. :D Flyby out edit:check out this link from the same site. Apparently the site needs a serious updating (July of '08 article), but it still rings true: http://www.build-gaming-computer-guide.com/the-complete-guide-to-choose-a-gaming-memoryram.html Edited May 3, 2009 by Flyby The U.S. Congress is the best governing body that BIG money can buy.
