Hi Guys and Gals, Just cause I make parts for Rotary Winged aircraft doesn't mean I know the first thing about flying them. Holding a Hover is like trying to balance a pencil on the end of your......Nose.. Got the Simm in Aug 2016 and I am a full blown DCS addict.

Great community in DCS. Lots of people willing to help a newbie and lots of people spending their own free time making Skins, Missions, Campaigns, many other mods or add on's for all to enjoy.

Thanks to all the great peeps on this Forum

What a HOOT!!!!

Cheers

Another newcomer

Hi all,

I'm one of those who started with Harrier Attack on the Amstrad CPC 464 was instantly hooked on flight sims. Over the years I've had the pleasure of playing games like F29 Retaliator, DI Tornado, TFX, EF2000, SWOTL, CFS3: Pacific Air War, Falcon 4 (and then F4 Allied Force), BoB2, IL2-CLOD.

I had two young kids so family life pushed flight simming to the side for years, but I've recently found the time to pick up DCS and FC3 and spent the last few days getting to grips with the F-15C and learning the simulation avionics and flight modes. Wow - what a game! Ok, I am definitely re-hooked on flight sims!

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have been playing DCS for a little while now, starting out with the SU-25T and now I'm learning the Mi-8. Been having a ton of fun learning all the different systems, it is great having a sim that is so detailed. I'm itching to get my next properly model aircraft now.

I've been into flight sims since I was a kid, Microsoft Flight Simulator (starting with 1998), Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator, Aces High (which is a fantastic WW2 flight sim), and plenty of others. Lately I've been really making the effort to get into the genre, with IL2: Cliffs of Dover team fusion, IL2: BoS, Rise of Flight and of course DCS. I'm finding the more modern setting of DCS is a nice chance from the usual WW2.

Anyways! That's me.

Hello, new to the forum here.

DCS marks the first actual flight sim I've played in quite a few years. The only flight sim I've played was Microsoft Flight Simulator 3, being more interested in a sci-fi experience at the time. But I've always had a place for playing with big military vehicles, and kept Arma 3 up to date just to fly helis and drive tanks. I saw DCS as a result of a post on a forum, and put it in my Steam wishlist. As I was pa-rousing my wishlist recently, I saw DCS and decided to install. Now, I've made it through all the tutorials for the Frogfoot (stuck the landing at night - first try! :D ). Hope to eventually tackle the A-10.

Hello

This is my first post

I like flying the Huey and the F-15C. I'm having a blast learning these mods.

I'm using an old Saitek X-45 Hotas with pedals and Oculus Rift I even got the jet seat from Andre.

Lot's of fun...and some frustration

Still too sloppy for MP

Hello all!

Cherrox Actual from Norway. This is my first flight sim, and I'm looking forward to sharing the skies with y'all!

Been an enthusiast my entire life. My grandfather was a mechanic in the RNOAF, and lived on a farm right next to the main airbase - I grew up with airplanes, F-16's and the occasional F-5's.

I've been thinking about starting with flight simulators for quite some while, and I finally did it!

Hello, My real name is Rob, I'm a Truck driver from Texas and run all over the United States. When I am home for my time off, I enjoy spending time with family and pc gaming. I started as a kid in the 90's with FS 4.0, the Lucas Arts flying games(SWOTL anyone?), Strike Commander, the Comanche series and then IL-2, LOMAC and FSX later on. I've known about DCS since Black Shark and purposely avoided buying a joystick or HOTAS for 8 years in fear of it becoming a problem but finally decided to go all in about 3 months ago on a sim setup.

The main draw to DCS for me is the models themselves. I see digital models no differently than say a plastic or radio control model which is my other passion. I see each module as a work of art to be explored and learn about. I would love to be able to fly with people and do multiplayer but my biggest struggle is time. I get about 4 days a month to play and when I do it's in VR mode. I am very excited about the future of DCS.

Hey everyone, my name is Pasquale, i am 31 years old and an attorny from Cologne in Germany. I have a similar "sim-career" gameswise as Rob especially in LOMAC, IL-2 and FSX and decided, to be a little bit more actively participating in a community and flying online here at the ED-Forums and DCS in general.

Hey everyone, just ordinary person passing by who code for life, fly for fun, nibbles down chips and soda while sitting in my chair, pretending to be a fighter pilot. All in all, I have been playing flight sims since I was youngster starting with Microsoft Flight Simulator to SU-27 Flanker and so on.

Yo!

I'm pretty new to DCS but I have already flown 82 hours the last three weeks!

It took me 5+ hours of singleplayer and training until I dared to play multiplayer and I'm still getting a bit nervous playing with other people but everybody has been very friendly and helpful on Teamspeak and in-game chatt.

As for now I play the steam version and I have only bought the A10C.

I'm looking forward to v2.0+ and the two new maps for the steam addition.

Thanks!

Well, let's introduce myself :)

I've only just discovered flight sims and I really like it!

I used to sim using Iracing and I got a rift for that and I really liked it!

I do have a military background, from 2002 till 2012 I flew as a Flight Engineer/Loadmaster on dutch Chinooks logging a little under 2000 hrs and with 4 tours in Afghanistan. I used to look at combat flight sims from a distance thinking they'd look too much like work. But once I tried DCS with the rift I really loved it!

I'm enjoying the A-10c right now as I've always had a sweet spot for that plane and when they flew out of Kandahar they looked awesome and at night you could hear the GAU runs as they practiced on the range.

So far I'm really enjoying the technical systems and how little details such as the sound the A/C sound on batt power remind me of the Chinook.

And maybe because it's been a few years, but I really like learning all the systems and re-learning a lot of the tactical stuff.

Well, that's me :)

Jan

P.s. Pyle used to be my callsign because once when we were at Tarin Kowt and some of us were watching Full Metal Jacket and just at the moment Pvt Pyle was in the picture I walked in with a freshly shaven head...and well...you know how it goes :)

Howdy folks!:smoke:

New pilot here and I'm looking forward to the F/A-18C which is why I went ahead and downloaded DCS through Steam just a couple of days ago. Right now I'm learning the Su-25T and am having a lot of fun. Once I've got a pretty good grasp on the Su-25T I'll go ahead and order FC3. I got my eyes set on the Ka-50 as well. Looks like a lot of fun to fly.

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself. Hope to learn the basics soon.:joystick:

New and curious

Hello, just downloaded DCS, was tiered of all those WASD and left mouse button games, remembered the good old fun with F16 for the Atari ST and so i decided to start with DCS. First Trainings with little Froggy had been sometimes a desaster and sometimes i simply forgot where i am. But it will work ( i hope ) . Props are not mine any longer, nothing better but the elegant high tech in a modern jet ;-) and not to forget : ejection seat.

Till now not shure, which plane and mission first to order... they seem to be all pretty nice and interesting.

btw : this is my original horrible rest of school english. I fear it will not improve... but one should never say never. Ah, and it seems this is a really interesting and well moderated forum, most helpful. by the way , my name is Robert. have a nice day

Atari ST! I had the Amiga, there was a sim that was the F-16 or F-18 and you had to escort AF1 into San Fransisco.

Are you referring to the FA-18 Interceptor game for the Amiga? I loved that sim, i bought the Amiga only because of it, after i played it in a friends house.
