JeffMc Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 When I try to load the first mission in the "Deployment" campaign, the game just freezes at the loading screen with the black shark in front of the blue strip. The music keeps playing and I can move the mouse, though, and task manager does not list it as "not responding" and I can easily close it from there. It successfully loaded once, which was when I tried it the first time I loaded the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CAT_101st Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 How long do you wait for the load. my system can take up to 1 minut to load a mission. Depinding on what is in the mission. Also keep in mind you only have 2mb of cash on your CPU that is a big bottle neck. JeffMc Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 You tried the other campaigns and single/multiplay missions? Yes, the Georgian Oil War and all single/multi missions load up nicely. What version of DirectX are you using? The one from the Black Shark DVD or the one from Windows Update? DirectX 9.0C, brought up-to-date through Windows I believe. How long do you wait for the load. my system can take up to 1 minut to load a mission. Depinding on what is in the mission. Also keep in mind you only have 2mb of cash on your CPU that is a big bottle neck. Missions that load properly only take about a minute. I tried loading the campaign and left it there for a full hour and nothing happened, it still gets stuck on the first loading screen (it does not drop to the desktop at all). The cache size doesn't seem like that big of a bottleneck to me. Even in very CPU demanding games like FSX I get around 40FPS with settings nearly maxed out. Some things I've tried so far: de-fragging the hard drive, cleaning my registry, and reinstalling DCS. No luck. :(

JeffMc Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 How about starting the campaign with a new pilot? Interesting idea. But sadly, it didn't work. I might be on the way to a break-through though as I was able to get it to work when I put the realism settings to "Game" mode. But game mode is so boring :noexpression:
