Hello Again!

As you can see here I have some active waypoints made on the ABRIS, but the red signed buttons are totally inactive.

I push them without avail. What's worng? Thank you!

It looks like the navigation system is not fully powered on if that's the case. Check INU, K-041, and PVI-800 master mode to OPER.

Did you know that ABRIS and PVI are totally unaware of each other's existence and they don't share any data?

Also it's a good practice to attach a track file with problematic situation. The systems are complicated and there can be multiple possible causes to something not functioning.

VooDoo, it may be important that you check what settings you use for Options, Controllers

- Real Mode

- Game Mode

On one of the other pages you can set the sim to run either as 'Game mode' or 'Real/sim mode' - and press the checkbox for 'use these settings for all missions'.

This choice will decide if you use 'Real controller settings' or 'Game controller settings' for the mission you have problem with.

yeah im using game mode for now till ive learned all the abris and other stuff then i plan on using sim mode and learn to fly the shark proper

and im using a saitek cyborg x stick so far the only problem im having is successfully targeting targets in front of me ?

many thanks for helping me so far :)

It's all about being able to use the Shkval and arming the laser etc. Right now I'm a bit rusty regarding default keys, but I think it goes like this (Real mode):

- H bring down the HMS (helmet mounted sight)

- O uncage skhval

- Adjust Shkval Zoom Level 7x or 23x (EN keyboard uses "=" and "-")

- Press Enter to track target / ground you look at.

- Use Skhval Slew keys to adjust cursor / cue onto target.

- Adjust Tracking Gate size (EN keyboard uses "[" and "]")

- Q if you want automatic turn to target (works when in hover, not at high speed)

- O+RightShift to Arm Laser.

- Wait for TA on Skhval, Readjust / press Enter to tune in to your target if needed.

- BACKSPACE key to reset all targetting. (Laser remains armed).

See pages DCS:BS Flight Manual 7-17 to 7-24 for a good illustration.

Hi, I'm new to this game, and pretty new to flight simulators (except for some time with IL-2 Sturmovik 1946).

I was wondering how best to use the controls (I don't have track-IR). Is there a way to fly only with the joystick (and keyboard), or do you always need to let go of the stick and use the mouse to press buttons? Seems quite hard to do that while fighting and turning. Or do you always stabilize the aircraft first and fly straight and level before using the mouse to flip switches?

My personal preference is to, as best as I can, set up my joystick controls to match what is on the actual cyclic and collective of the aircraft. The original aircraft designers were pretty smart about what they considered necessary stick buttons and even their general placement. Commonly pushed cockpit buttons I try to make in logical keyboard locations, Q/W/A/S for example for the group of four targeting mode switches.

A lot of switches are done with the mouse. Once you become proficient with trim and to a lesser extent autopilot use, taking your hands off the stick(s) to flip switches will not seem uncomfortable.

Only time you really need to be on the stick is during evasive maneuvers and some for targeting. The trim system is intended to be used for probably 90% of flight time.

Check out my sig. It may help you a lot even if youy don't have Saitek joystick as it is a live example of the most frequently used key commands.

Hi everyone! I dind´t find any solution to this so I wonder how the "mode" -switch works on Saitek X45 HOTAS. The game tells me the first position of mode selector -switch is button_15, second one is button_16 and the third is button_17 for example (don´t remember the real ones).

Now I want the first mode to be "combat" and the second one to be "normal".

Then I map the button_1 for cannon and add button_15 for modifier. On normal mode I map the button_1 for trim and add button_16 for modifier.

Now I go try it out and button_1 is cannon no matter where the mode selector -switch is. It´s the same thing with all the keys I map. Only the first mode works and the first one is always on regardless the position of the selector switch.

Am I doing it right or where is the problem?

It would be cool to have like "combat", "normal" and "emergency" -modes for example.

I´m sorry for bad explaining due to my bad english. :D

Ask if you want and thanks alot already!

Cant get the autoturn/ground moving/air/reset (left targetting options) to light the buttons up, like a/p, nav buttons.. I tried the brightness knobs on the lower right elbow position, ADI, HSI, NV brightness? etc.. just cant get the left side to light. Ideas?

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Check out the link in my signature (package) and please continue the discussion about programming either in my topic there. Have you tried searching for similar topics using the forum search function?

Launch any mission that will allow you to quickly get on to things you'd like to show and quit the mission as soon as you did those things. In the debriefing screen (the list of events) press the Save Track button on the bottom of the screen. Then either upload it to mediafire, rapidshare or other service or upload it as an attachement to the forum post (quote or post-advanced -> Additional Options -> Manage attachements).

That's a pretty common one. Make sure your K-041 and WCS switches are both on.

whats the WCS button? you mean weapon control switch on the APU/GOV wall? the wall panel?

hey. I nave a question för the nav switch just above the standby adi switch. What's that for? I read the manuale but i can't undesrtand when i have to use it. Something with ground nav and targeting. But I cannot understand the use. During ramp I turned on to try. Noting happened but during flight turning it off gave me some problem with hud and ralt.

thanks

I think it switched between GPS/NAV like in commercial jets. That is, homing on the GPS route, or the ADF beacon signals, AKA glide path.:joystick:

This switch is for ground testing NAV/targeting system. No use in flight but it will do no harm either if it's on.

So,

- during manual start, don't turn it on,

- but if it's on after automatic start, leave it on.

Did I say button? I could have sworn I said switch.

The NAV switch is semi-redundant with the K-041 switch. It's a bit buggy that if you turn the NAV switch off while K-041 is also on it turns off K-041 functions until you cycle the K-041 switch off and on again. Normal flight is K-041 only but there's no harm in having both on (as it is with default hot starts).
