Running the Fire Warning System checks, Page 5-7 of the manual states:

Set the “КОНТР ДАТЧИКОВ” (Fire warning sensor group tests) switch to the “1ГР” (1st group) position. If the system is operating normally, the following lights should illuminate: “ПОЖАР ЛЕВ ДВИГ” (Left engine fire), “ПОЖАР ПРАВ ДВИГ” (Right engine fire), “ПОЖАР ГИДРО” (Hydraulics fire), “ПОЖАР ВЕНТИЛ” (Oil cooling fan fire), “ПОЖАР ВСУ” (APU fire). These warning lights are located on the wall panel. On the left forward panel, the MWL and “ПОЖАР” (Fire) lights will illuminate.

For some reason when the test is run, the MWL and Fire lights never illuminate in any of the 3 sensor positions yet those on the right hand panel above the extinguisher illuminate correctly.

Does something else need to be done to enable the MWL and Master Fire Caution or is this a bug?

There is a switch to the left of the Sensor Group Test selector. When you start up the switch is set to a neutral position, you need to make sure it is set to the Test position.

It is set to Test but there is no MWL or Master Fire Caution.

I've done this test successfully so I know it's possible. Lemme copy-past and then paraphrase the manual's instruction.

Preparing to test to system

1. Move the “ОГНЕТУШ – ОТКЛ – КОНТР” (Fire extinguisher WORK – OFF - CHECK) to the test position.

2. Set the “СИГНАЛИЗ” (Fire signaling) switch to on.

Testing a group

3. Set the “КОНТР ДАТЧИКОВ” (Fire warning sensor group tests) switch to the “1ГР” (1st group) position. Appropriate lights will illuminate.

4. Set the “КОНТР ДАТЧИКОВ” (Fire warning sensor group tests) switch to the neutral position.

5. Cycle off and on the “СИГНАЛИЗАЦИЯ” (Fire signaling) switch and all

warning lights on the right side panel should turn off.

Testing other groups

6. Repeat the procedure (steps 3-5) for the II and III groups of sensors.

Returning to operational settings

7. Set the “ОГНЕТУШ – ОТКЛ – КОНТР” (Fire extinguisher WORK – OFF -

CHECK) switch to the “ОГНЕТУШ” (Extinguishing) position.

8. Set the “БАЛЛОНЫ” (Extinguishers) switch to the “АВТ” (First extinguisher)

position. During normal system operation, the «1» и «2» lights above the

“БАЛЛОНЫ” selector should not illuminate.

That is exactly the procedure I've been using Frederf.

I even tried using the auto-start and then running the tests in case I missed something but the MWL and Master Fire Caution stubbornly refuse to illuminate.

A friend I fly online with also has the same problem.

Is anyone able to post a track showing the steps leading up to a Fire Warning test with a successful MWL and Master Fire Caution so I can find out what we are doing wrong?

Thanks for the track BillyCrusher.

I have carried out the test following the same steps as you from a cold dark pit and the MWL and Master Fire Caution simply don't light.

The only difference between our versions is that you are using the Russian cockpit and I'm using the English. I'm starting to wonder if this is a bug in the English download release.

I've attached a track of my test for reference.

I'll give people a couple of days to review it and let me know if I'm doing something wrong. If it's not some silly mistake on my part then I'll report it to ED as a bug.

I have understood in what you are mistaken:)

It is necessary to PRESS AND HOLD the mouse button when you click on "Iгр." Etc. The toggle-switch without fixing. When you release the button, MWL light-off.

Try - all works.

Sorry for my English.

BillyCrusher,

Works perfectly holding the System Group switch in the appropriate position (GR1, GR2 or GR3) as you said. As soon as you let the switch go it turns off the MWL and Master Fire Caution but leaves on the fire warning lights on the right wall panel.

Thanks very much for everyone's help, problem solved.
